We’ll Get Through This Together with Soaring Swallows

I love that a card can grow from a little seed of an idea into a mature, beautiful card. I needed to make the card I’m sharing with you today, and I wasn’t sure where to start. This week’s Freshly Made Sketches layout gave me the perfect inspiration for the card, and I’m grateful for the kick-start. Here’s my card:

Soaring Swallows, Here Together, Stampin Up!, Brian King, sympathy cardAnd here’s the banner for Kim Singdahlsen’s challenge that inspired my card:

FMS532I bought the Soaring Swallows bundle for two reasons – I love the sentiments in the set and the birds that can built with just cutouts of cardstock. I’ve featured none of these on today’s card – but I did play with other elements from the bundle that I completely overlooked. Here’s a look a the Soaring Swallows Bundle:

Soaring Swallows Bundle, Stampin Up! 157810I had not even seen the flowering branch in the set before I made the card I shared today. It was so easy to build this branch – and can we please talk about how gorgeous is it?!

Soaring Swallows, Here Together, Stampin Up!, Brian King, sympathy card I used the sentiment frame from the Swallows Dies (above) to crop the “We’ll Get Through This Together” sentiment from the Here Together Bundle. While the die was designed to cut several of the sentiments in the Soaring Swallows set, it’s almost like it was made for this sentiment, too! Here’s a look at the Here Together Bundle, which is a limited-time release that goes away on May 2 (or when supplies run out):

Here Together Bundle, Stampin Up! 160263I’m no color scientist, but I’ve heard that yellow is a great color for sympathy cards – it’s soothing and also uplifting. I wasn’t intending to add the green branch or pink flowers at the start of this card, but it works so well with the other soft colors in this project. If you like the beautiful mix of So Saffron, Balmy Blue and Old Olive as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

I hope you’ll pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!
