Thankful We Are Friends with Perfectly Penciled

I’m a huge fan of black-and-white Designer Series Papers. While I often showcase black-and-white designs in their original state, I also like to add a little color in a variety of ways. The Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper, new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog, offers some beautiful designs that beg to be colored. Here’s a card I made with this incredible paper:

There are some beautiful floral patterns and some great patterns in the Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the pages of this black-and-white paper:

Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 159244I started with the first page in the pack of papers and just added some soft, sweet colors with my Stampin’ Blends. Here are the colors I used to add life to the flowers, leaves and butterflies:

  • Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blends
  • Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends
  • Pale Papaya Stampin’ Blends
  • Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends
  • Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends
  • Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends

The paper featured so much shading that I only needed to add a touch of color to create a beautiful panel. I happen to think the panel would have been beautiful, too, if left alone. I framed the focal panel with the backside of this page of papers – a black-and-white panel to beautifully offset the focal panel.

The sentiment on my card is pulled from the Framed Occasions photopolymer stamp set, also new in the new catalog. The sentiments and shapes pair well with the Beautiful Shapes Dies, which we were introduced to in Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2022 Mini Catalog (and carried over into the new catalog). Here’s a look at this stamp set:

Framed Occasions, Stampin Up!, 158745I heat embossed the sentiment with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black cardstock and then cropped it with a Stylish Shapes Die (a circle with stitching around the inside of it).  I placed the circle on the card so that it covered the most white space and allowed the yellow flowers to poke out.

Stamp Sets: Framed Occasions  Papers: Perfectly Penciled, Basic Black  Inks: Versamark, Stampin’ Blends (Parakeet Party, Petal Pink, Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia, Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight)  Accessories: Stylish Shapes Dies, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals

    Good morning, Brian!
Although I LOVE the look of black and white cards, it’s so fun to step up the B&W DSP with coloring. I’m excited to pull out some of this new DSP and get to coloring.

This DSP is so beautiful but your coloring brings these little flowers to life, and the sentiment looks fabulous stamped in white on a black background, totally genius.
