Bigger Than the Ocean

On Sunday, I shared three alternative projects with items in July’s Sending Good Thoughts Paper Pumpkin kit. I shared these projects (and more!) with my customers on our monthly Pumpkin in the Fungeon call. If you missed those projects, you can see them here.

Today I’m sharing an additional alternative projects with this Sending Good Thoughts kit. The mix of punch-outs, stamps and backgrounds are perfect for a nautical-themed card. Here’s a look at the finished projects from the July 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit:

While I had loads of fun making the three projects I shared on Sunday, one card was particularly exciting for me – the background on this card fits the theme so well and came together with some current products from the Annual Catalog and the current Sale-a-Bration brochure. Here’s my card:

I stamped the boat (one of the fun stamps in the stamp set that comes with the July Paper Pumpkin kit in Basic Gray and added “My love for your is bigger than the ocean” (from the Whale Done stamp set) in Pacific Point. I later added the two Poppy Parade hearts – but I’ll tell you about that later. I cropped that with a Stitched Rectangles Die and framed that with a Poppy Parade border. Here’s a look at the Whale Done stamp set:

The focal panel is really simple, but it’s the background piece that made me so happy. With a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of the Silver & Gold 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, one of the Sale-a-Bration options with a $50 order during Stampin’ Up!’s July-August 2022 Sale-a-Bration (or while supplies last). Here’s a look at the patterns in this incredible pack of papers:

On the gold-striped paper, I added a wisp of Pool Party with my Blending Brush. It was a soft accent that transformed this paper. I had planned to stop there but decided to add some fish to the page – with Pacific Point, I added the fish around the background. Fun! Hmmm…I wonder how it would look if I added some bubbles with one of the little stamps in the set…cute! That’s when I noted the little heart in the set and added two hearts to the focal panel. I decided a few hearts in the background might be fun, too, so they were added. I couldn’t be happier with how this background came together. Here’s a closer look:

Nautical cards often feature red, whites and blues we would find in patriotic cards. If you like this mix of Poppy Parade, Pacific Point and Pool Party as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
