Spooky with Stampin’ Up!’s Aspen Trees Dies

When Stampin’ Up! added the Aspen Trees Dies as a Sale-a-Bration selection (free with a $100 ordering through the end of the month or while supplies last), I knew I’d make some beautiful Fall-themed projects to share. The focal image in this set of dies is a GORGEOUS grove of Aspen trees – perfect for a gorgeous card. Turns out they are also perfect for a fun, spooky card, too! Here’s my Halloween project with the Aspen Trees Dies:

I cropped the Aspen trees from Thick White cardstock to create a template with the trees. I placed the template over a panel of Thick White cardstock and added Smoky Slate and Basic Gray ink with a Blending Brush. I started with the lighter gray at top before adding the darker ink at the bottom.

The sentiment is stamped with the Alphabest stamp set and Memento Tuxedo ink on Pumpkin Pie cardstock. I cropped the letters with the coordinating Best Label Punch, a tiny punch that coordinates with the letters and shapes in the set. Together, they are the amazing Alphabest Bundle. Here’s a look:

Alphabest Bundle, Stampin Up! 158886 I intentionally placed the letters on my card at varying angles to relieve the pressure to get them perfectly aligned – it was a gift to myself. The angled letters also adds a maniacal look to the sentiment. ♥

I couldn’t stop there. above the sentiment, I added three spooky bats in three different sizes. What fun! The bats are pulled from the Scary Silhouettes Dies, part of the Scary Cute Bundle. This is such a sweet bundle for Halloween that showcases the childhood joy of the holiday. Here’s a look at this fun bundle:

Scary Cute Bundle, Stampin Up! 159852Before cropping these bats from the Basic Black cardstock, I taped a small piece of packing tape to the black cardstock and cropped the bats from that. The shine from the packing tape gives the bats a faux-embossed look without all the work to emboss the cardstock. Such fun! I popped up the largest bat with little ends from a page of Stampin’ Dimensionals and glued the smaller bats directly to the Thick White cardstock. Here’s a closer look at the faux-embossed bats:

  1. Brilliant! The perfect combo of theme and art! Love this so much ♥️

  2. Spooky indeed! I love the masked background. Packing tape for shine the on the bats is brilliant.

    • Thanks so much, Ann! Had fun with this one – I don’t consider myself an expert with the Blending Brush, but I’m happy with how this one turned out. So glad you like it. ♥

  3. Brilliant to incorporate this die into a Halloween card! Boo!

  4. Such a cool and clever card!

  5. So fun! I did snap up the tree dies as a SAB goodie. But, right now I am not about the bats since we just had one again in the house. The darn thing kept lunging at me. It wouldn’t fly out the window when Mike opened the window. Anyway, the bat is gone now. I hope we don’t have any more get inside for a long while. I am still wondering how one made it into the bathroom. No pun but a true story! I went to clean the toilet with the brush and pulled it out of the holder. I noticed something inside the holder move and low and behold it was a bat and the light woke it up and it started to unfurl it’s wings. I threw a towel over it and also when you take the brush out, the top closes. So, then it was a matter of carrying it outside with the towel. That was just unbelievable! TRUE HONEST!!!! Love your card though!
