Stampin’ Blends for the Be Inspired Blog Hop

It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!

For today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop, we are creating projects inspired by our Stampin’ Blends. With Stampin’ Up!’s alcohol markers, adding color to a project is so easy. I love my Stampin’ Blends and appreciate that they coordinate so well with our favorite colors. If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from the project shared by my talented friend Carolynn Sander.

Perfectly Penciled with Blends

With all the artistic ways to add color with Stampin’ Blends, my favorite is to color on Designer Series Paper. The black-and-white Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper in Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog gives us beautiful florals in black-and-white, perfect for adding a little color! Instead of coloring the flowers on this page of gorgeous paper, though, I colored the space behind them. Here’s my card:

Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper, Stampin Blends, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI cropped a 3-3/4″ x 5″ panel of the Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper, certain it would make a beautiful backdrop for a thank you card.  I cut the paper into 1-1/4″ strips and then carefully colored the spaces behind the flowers and leaves. Here’s a look at the Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper:

By coloring the background and not the flowers, you don’t have to worry about balancing colors in the flowers and don’t have to coordinate colors on like-flowers. You only have to find the blank space and then zen out. If you color too long in a poorly ventilated space, you might zen out for even longer. 🙂

I used the following Stampin’ Blends on the panels behind the flowers: Light Poppy Parade, Light Balmy Blue and Dark Pale Papaya. Together, they are a beautiful combination, don’t you think? If you like this mix of Poppy Parade, Balmy Blue and Pale Papaya as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

  1. What a clever idea, Brian, to make this beautiful card. The color combination is perfect. Enjoy your day!

  2. What more can I say than WOW!

  3. So clever…those flowers really pop!

  4. I never think to color the designer series paper! I have to remember that technique as it makes the DSP completely different and useful in so many other ways. Love your card and the bold sentiment. Simple yet makes a statement.

  5. Gorgeous! I thought you’d used a mask to color because the lines are so perfect. Your idea for strips is much better than my idea to use a mask. Beautiful!

  6. Stunning card Brian, love your colour combo and such a fabulous idea x

  7. Brian I love today’s card. Can’t wait to try it. I also wanted to tell you that tonight my residents at my new apartment in Dacula are stamping your card with the mittens from the 8th for the Soldiers for Christmas. Your the best! I’m trying to get them hooked on stamping!

  8. Brilliant coloring. Even enlarged on my desk top the lines of piecing the strips are all but impossible to see. Genius!!
