The Start of Something Great

When a creative spark hits me, it doesn’t let me go. As I was packing the Super-Awesome Fun Time Card Kits this past weekend (that feature the Greatest Journey Bundle and Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper), I noticed four of the colorful mountain images are the same designs (but with different colors). I immediately wanted to paper-piece the panels to together to mix-and-match the colors on a single pattern. Here’s one of the cards I made:

Greatest Journey Bundle, Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingWith a carefully planned paper-piecing technique I describe below, I made these four cards:

Greatest Journey Bundle, Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHow beautiful are these colors and patterns?! Here’s a look at the images and colors in the Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper:

Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 160586The sentiment on my card is pulled from the coordinating Greatest Journey stamp set. Here’s a look at the Greatest Journey Bundle:

Greatest Journey Suite, Stampin Up! 160599 To build the two-paneled backgrounds on my cards, I cut into the gorgeous mountain designs in the Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the two pages:

Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King 160586There are EIGHT colors featured in these two pages of paper – Pumpkin Pie/Mango Melody, Melon Mambo/Polished Pink, Garden Green/Coastal Cabana and Starry Sky/Highland Heather. Not only are the colors beautiful, but the patterns along each side are exactly the same for all three landscapes.

I cut both pages 5-1/4″ from the bottom of each mountain base (so I was left with four mountain skylines in four colors). I stacked them on top of each other and cut them in the 2″ strips. In a fun game of mix-and-match, I moved the pieces around to rebuild the mountain scenes with a variety of colors. So easy! So fun! Look how perfectly they line up:
