Wanted to Say … You’re Too Kind

Yesterday I shared an alternative project idea with May’s Exploring In Color Paper Pumpkin Kit. If you missed that project, you can see it here. The kit showcases gorgeous landscapes and features all five of Stampin’ Up!’s 2023-2025 In Colors. While it can be difficult to include all five of the new colors on a card (they are released together, but I don’t think they are designed for all five to be used together). On these cards, though, they are perfectly showcased.

Today I’m sharing a second card I made to share with my Paper Pumpkin subscribers – there was a lot to share in the project yesterday, but I really love this one, too!. Here’s a look at my simple card:

Wanted to Say Dies, Exploring In Color Paper Pumpkin Kit Alternatives, May 2023, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI cut the card base to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and mounted it on a Wild Wheat card base – how simple is that?! To lightly frame the background image, I added a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of Vellum Cardstock (more about how I glue that down later in the post). I added “you’re too kind” along the waterline of the landscape on this card, using the combination of dies from the Wanted to Say Dies. Here’s a look at this INCREDIBLE set of standalone dies:

Wanted to Say Dies, Stampin Up! 161594The sentiment is cropped with Thick Basic White (after a layer of Adhesive Sheets was added to the back to make it easy to apply the sentiment to the frame). The frame is cropped with Wild Wheat cardstock, which perfectly and simply coordinates with the card base and elements from the landscape.

Wild Wheat, one of Stampin’ Up!’s 2023-2025 In Colors, gets a bad rap for being a dirty yellow (that’s all I’ll say about that), but I think it has so much promise as a grand gold. As with any color, it matters which colors are paired with Wild Wheat and the amount of Wild Wheat you use. Don’t pass it by, though – it has so much promise. I promise. Here’s a closer look:

2023-2025 In Color - Wild WheatNot only is Wild Wheat featured in the card panel from the Paper Pumpkin Kit, but I’ve used it for the card base, the foundation for the sentiment and the 2023-2025 In Color Dots on the face of the card. So much beautiful Wild Wheat!

Wanted to Say Dies, Exploring In Color Paper Pumpkin Kit Alternatives, May 2023, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAdhering vellum to a card front can be tricky and often requires a little planning. After I added the sentiment to the vellum with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, I added a lot of glue behind the sentiment on the vellum and stuck it to the landscape. I also added little dots of glue where I knew I’d add the In Color Dots. With all that glue, the edges of the vellum still rolled up a bit. Because there’s a detailed pattern on the card (multiple tones in the sky, water and water’s edge, I was able to swipe a little glue along the edges, too. Bonus! If this were a single page of cardstock or a simple pattern, I’d have to get creative to ensure the vellum stayed down.

While all five of the 2023-2025 In Colors (and Daffodil Delight and Mossy Meadow) are featured in the card front from the Paper Pumpkin Kit, it’s the combination of Boho Blue, Wild Wheat and Pebbled Path that’s so central to this card. If you like this mix as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
