I had big plans for a fish-snipped card (that will make sense in a bit) to share with you today. I snipped a handful of fish from the Let’s Go Fishing Designer Series Paper, but the design I had planned wasn’t working for me. Before I tossed the handful of fish into the trash (it was too late to put them back in the ocean), I decided to try a different layout. The sketch at Freshly made Sketches gave me EXACTLY what I needed to build a card I love. Here’s my fish-snipped congrats card:
Before you think I’ve made mistakes in the coming post – the middle fish and coordinating band on this card looks very Sweet Sorbet in the photos, but the actual card is definitely Calypso Coral. The more you know… Here’s a look at this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge:
My card features two pages from the Let’s Go Fishing Designer Series Paper, new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2023 Annual Catalog. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Let’s Go Fishing Designer Series Paper:
With my trusty paper snips, I cropped the fish from the first page on the top row above – I selected a variety of colors and sizes that look great together and mounted them on a coordinating 1″ strip of cardstock. The background panel on the card is the old map page showcased in the fourth pattern on the top row above.
Here’s a closer look at my snipped fish:
I added little air bubbles to the middle fish with the Night of Navy Ombre Matte Decorative Dots. Such a fun accent in a variety of sizes and color tones!
Quick Commercial Break… We are in the middle of Stampin’ Up!’s month-long Designer Series Paper Sale! The sentiment is stamped from Gone Fishing with Night of Navy on Thick Very Vanilla and popped up with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. So fun! Here’s a look at the Gone Fishing Bundle:
The stamp set doesn’t take a starring role in this card, but the sentiment is just what I needed. It’s the Designer Series Paper and colors that really shine on this one! If you like this mix of Boho Blue, Calypso Coral and Mossy Meadow as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
Stamps: Gone Fishing Papers: Let’s Go Fishing, Night of Navy, Boho Blue, Calypso Coral, Mossy Meadow, Thick Very Vanilla Inks: Night of Navy Accessories: Ombre Matte Decorative Dots, Paper Snips, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The “bubbles.” Need I say more?
Great card for the “Fishing Folk ” ! You always show me something I over look !
That large one page die in this set is one I missed . Fun to use for Patch Work Cards
I like your Fish Trio and those bubbles are cute !
Love those little fishie friends!!! ( Feel free to send me the ones that didn’t make the “cut” as I love the look of this card but not the fussy cutting…hahaha).
Great card and use of DSP!
I love your use of fish for this sketch (although I feel a little bad for those that didn’t make it back into the ocean!) The bubbles are the perfect accent!! Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
The snipped fish are perfect for the sketch – I’m glad you were able to use them! Thanks for playing along with us at FMS this week.
Fabulous fish snips!
Such a great card! And oh, those bubbles. So fun. Glad you joined us this week at FMS!
Glad you didn’t throw the fish into trash. They worked perfectly with this sketch.
