Mom’s Collection of Thoughtful Expressions Cards

When Mom comes to visit, we watch a lot of great shows, visit some great restaurants and craft for hours on-end. After I spend some crafty time with Mom, I get to show you what she was making – always a highlight for me. Mom has never asked to color with my Stampin’ Blends, but she was clear on this visit that she wanted to make hummingbird with beautiful Blends. Here’s a look at the card she made:

Mom did all the stamping and coloring – and I help with the die-cutting and layering. I think her coloring of both the flower and bird are gorgeous – here’s a closer look:

Mom didn’t want to put a sentiment on the outside of the cards but knew she wanted one for a birthday card (my aunt loves hummingbirds) and one for a sympathy card. She decided she’d add the right sentiment inside or just write the appropriate note inside. I love that idea – especially for versatile cards like these.

The flowers and hummingbird are stamped (and the hummingbird is cropped) with the Thoughtful Expressions Bundle. While the dies are sold out and now retired, the stamp set will be carried over into the next catalog as an Online Exclusives offering. Yay! Here’s a look at this bundle:

Mom used a mix of Parakeet Party, Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends to add green to the birds and leaves. She added the red throats with Sweet Sorbet and some bellies with Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends. The flowers are colored with Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blends. She added three Iridescent Foil Gems to surround the flying beauties.

If you looked closely, you might have noticed that she used Parakeet Party paper on six of the cards and Granny Apple Green on one. They all worked. with the mix of greens in the focal panel.
