Yesterday I shared a Father’s Day card that featured the new Labeled with Love Punch – if you missed that post, you can see it here. I love my punches, so it was a no-brainer for me to choose the punch bundle for that set, but I really wonder what you think. That’s why I’m asking “this or that?” in today’s post.
I shouldn’t get ahead of myself…have you noticed pages 58 and 59 of Stampin’ Up!’s 2024 Annual Catalog? The Labeled with Love and Keeping Tabs stamp sets provide us with an existential question – do you prefer dies or punches? I want to hear from you!
There are some interested points with each – I’ve provided some information about each below, but I wonder what you think…
LABELED WITH LOVE – A OR B?
The Labeled with Love stamp set is perfect for gift tags and layered elements on cards. This versatile set comes with a large rectangle image you can cut out and use for gift tags or as layering pieces for card making and scrapbooking. The set also includes sentiments that are perfect for birthdays, friendship, and everyday occasions.
Which do you prefer – A or B?
While you can enjoy the stamp set alone, Stampin’ Up! offers two great ways for you to enjoy Labeled with Love as a bundle:
- stamp set with dies – #163574
- stamp set with punch – #163571
One thing to note about this offering – both bundles are normally offered at the same price, BUT in June, you earn an additional 10% discount on the stamp and dies bundle. Oh, the possibilities!
KEEPING TABS – A OR B?
The Keeping Tabs stamp set lets you Stamp, then die cut, your own fancy tabs for journals, notebooks, organization, and card making. This bundle comes with everything you need to stamp both the front and back for ornate index tabs.
Which do you prefer – A or B?
While you can enjoy the stamp set alone, Stampin’ Up! offers two great ways for you to enjoy Keeping Tabs as a bundle:
- stamp set with dies – #163543
- stamp set with punch – #163540
Two things to note about this offering – (1) the die cuts out the tab and scores the fold line, so all you have to do is fold and adhere the tab! (2) the die bundle is normally $10 less than the punch bundle (one cut with each) – and the dies bundle is offered at an additional discount in June.
What do you think? Are you a punch-lover or a die-lover? Does a price differential sway your answer? Does the nature of the cut change your mind? Does June’s discount on stamp/die bundles make the decision a little more difficult?
I have my clipboard ready and would love to hear what you think!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

Hi Brian, I love my dies. They take up much less room to store and the lower price point is always a plus.
Good morning, Brian! As an over 70 year old stamper with some “arthritic hands” issues, I find I gravitate more towards dies. The punches are difficult to open and close, and don’t get me started on the actual punching! 😝 I would choose dies every time!
Toss up. I still lean toward punches over dies for quick and easy. However, I keep my stampin’ cut & emboss machine up and ready to go at all times and am finding I grab dies more often than ever. Dies are easier to get placement right where you want!
It’s dies for me. I find punches big and clunky, hard to store and occasionally hard to press. I’ve had the closing mechanism break on punches leaving them in the open position and even more difficult to store. Dies are small and 100% reliable. They both have their advantages though.
I find punches much more convenient. They are right next to me, easy to grab, punch, and put away. Of course, I have my dies on the other side of me! Ha. Ha. Ha.
I prefer punches. They are quick and easy. I teach card classes and it’s easier to punch multiples than to die cut them. I am finding that I am running out of room for storage though. Still love my dies but as second choice.
Hello Brian! I’m a die lover, guess I’ve not bought a punch in awhile. I’ve had some punches break over the years. I do love and still use my circle, oval punches.
Hi Brian,
I love the ease of a punch. No machine needed and super quick to use.
That’s a tough choice. I may need to get both of each!
Punches are so quick and easy, can pinch multiples in seconds. Dies are good for more intricate shapes but take so much longer to use!
I’ll take a punch over dies whenever possible even though they require more real estate for storage.
Punches all the way! you have to use tape to keep the die in place and sometimes it still slips. With my arthritis, yes, there are days when it’s harder to punch, but it also hurts to crank that machine and try to hold it still…it slides across my work surface. Punches are faster, I have more control over the cutting placement, and I feel I can do lots of an image faster. Pros and cons to both…you just have to decide which mean more to you…and just keep cutting 🙂
I would say punch for both. Who doesn’t love a good label punch right?
Great question! For me, since I have a cut&emboss machine, dies.
But, the advantage of punch is very portable, no learning curve to use.
I just got the tabs bundle…cant wait to play. Love your card with the label set.
Thanks for food for thought.
I am a punch lover. You can punch a million so easily and they don’t get lost
I prefer dies because you can out them anywhere! And in this case, you can do more than one at a time!
I definitely prefer punches. No having to drag out a machine, line up plates, etc. Plus punches cut first time every time.
I prefer punches because I can punch multiple pieces faster than I can die cut. At my age, I don’t know how much time I have left so I must make the best use of my time. 🤣🤣🤣
I love dies – but a punch is so much more efficient for me. So- B. ❤️
It’s always going to be a punch for me if I have to choose one or the other. But, the best case scenario would be a set that offered both! The dies are a lighter option when you are on the road for an event. The Mini Cut & Emboss is much, much lighter than a bag of punches, so having the option of punches and dies with a stamp set would be the best choice for me!
Oh that’s a hard choice. I love the set with three dies. That makes sense and Easy to use with the small machine. However, the punch for me
With the tab punch! Storage is a problem with punches as I can never let
Go! Punch my preference.
I love this Tab Bundle, and once I decide if I prefer the punch or the die-I will place my order!
Good morning, Brian,
I love the idea of SU! offering both the dies & punches in these particular bundles. (Aren’t they the best) I’ve always preferred the punches for the ease of it. But I purchased them both, for those who prefer to use one or the other at my classes.
I’m a Demonstrator, and I know that my ladies prefer one over the other, so I offer both.
This is a hard one. I normally like dies because the cuts seem cleaner. But for these it would quick and easy to have the punch.
I would pick punches, quick and easy to do multiples! Especially at Christmas !
Punches for me! Quicker, easier especially for mass production!
B- I like the punch for it’s ease of use.
As much as I love a good punch, I have to go with dies. Does give more dimension and interest.
What a great question! As I make packs of cards for donations to charities, I need quick and easy. I love punches for that reason and always punch extras at the same time for a quick stash.
If I had the option of a punch or die I usually pick a punch. With the sale I would do the dies.
I love my dies but have to go B ., a punch is quick and easy.
I love punches. I can just grab them, and don’t have to set up my cutting machine.
I have dozens of each but love my punches the best. I keep them handy.
