I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers on Saturday afternoon. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. I’m always impressed by what others are making and love to spend that time with my customers who participate. Sometimes we rush through our projects and then just chat for the rest of the time. Always such fun!
September’s Autumn Abundance kit is such a great one – a fun mix of beautiful, Autumn images and an adorable snail that steals the show. The designs celebrate gratitude and feature beautiful Fall images. This kit has something for everyone. Today I’m sharing two cards I made with September’s kit, but the fun doesn’t stop there! I have more projects to share with you (some projects I shared on the call and a trio of cards that were unfinished at the time). Along with current promotions this week, I’ll be sharing these other projects with you during the week.
More About The Kit
Here’s a look at the finished projects (as designed) from August’s Autumn Abundance Paper Pumpkin Kit:
The designed projects are gorgeous (but you know I’m partial to Fall colors and images), but you know we love to make alternative projects with the goodies inside the box. More on those in just a moment. First, here’s a look at the sweet stamp set that accompanied this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit:
Alternative Projects
The alternative projects I’ll be sharing with you are broken into three categories that I will share in a series of posts this week. The first two cards are built around one of the wood ring card bases in the kit (one features the front of the card base, and the other features the back). Here’s a look at these cards:
Both of these cards feature two products I want to showcase here (if you’ll allow me to get in a quick plug for these amazing products). ♥
The sentiments on both of these cards are stamped with the stamp set that coordinates with this kit (great sentiments!). Each saying is mounted on a label frame that’s cropped with Very Vanilla cardstock using the Christmas Labels Dies. Here’s a look at the dies which are included in the Christmas Labels Bundle:
Each of the cards also includes accents with the Adhesive-Backed Swirl Dots that coordinate with the A Little Latte Suite Collection. The brown tones work well with the wooden elements in the card base, don’t you think? Here’s a look at these adorable dots:
Thanks
I cropped a large tree ring from the front of one of the card bases to build the 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ panel on the front of this all-brown card. I framed the panel with Early Espresso cardstock and isolated the word “THANKS” from the coordinating stamp set that says “WITH THANKS” on a die-cut label from the Christmas Labels Dies. Here’s a closer look at this card:
Before layering the card panel onto my Pecan Pie card front, I stamped a mix of leaves from the coordinating stamp set with Pecan Pie ink onto the panel. I also added some of the stems from the set with Early Espresso. This added a new element to a portion of the paper but still allowed the tree rings to shine through.
I added Linen Thread behind the sentiment (attached to glue dots behind the sentiment) and decorated the card front with three Pecan Pie dots from the Adhesive-Backed Swirl Dots.
Autumn Wishes
The other side of the tree ring card base includes two smaller tree rings with Very Vanilla space between them. As I often like to do, I cropped the paper into four panels (each measures 3/4″ x 5″) and mounted them on a Cajun Craze card base that measures 3-3/4″ x 11 (scored at 5-1/2″). It’s a bit thinner than a standard card base, but I love the different size. Here’s a closer look at this card:
I lined up the panels and taped them together with Post-it Tape so I could easily adhere them to the card base. I filled the panels with Stampin’ Dimensionals. That allowed me to add them all at once and center them on the panel. Yay! I added two leaves from the Kit and the sentiment (stamped with Cajun Craze on a Very Vanilla label from the Christmas Labels Dies). I added three dots from the Adhesive-Backed Swirl Dots for decoration.

Great inspiration!
I’m so sorry I missed the Fungeon meeting. I love the alternatives you made using this card from the three in the kit. It was the most difficult for me to redesign. Your cards are very inspiring! Enjoy your day!
What I love about these is that you found a very cool way to make a huge tree trunk “slice” into something more pleasing to the eye. I saw posts on some of the Facebook sites that people were not sure what to do with that and you managed to change it up exactly perfect! Very nice!
