Brian’s Week in Review: October 13, 2024

Brian's Week in ReviewIt’s Sunday – and that means it’s time to take a look back at the past week in my Week in Review post. But first…I’ve not shared this information on my blog (because I didn’t want to signal that my house would we vacant for a week), but I just returned from a week-long vacation in the Caribbean. While Jeremiah and I have enjoyed many incredible cruises and destination vacations with Stampin’ Up! over the years, Mom had never been on a cruise (and always reminded us of that when we returned). We put a stop to that nonsense when we made plans to take her on a Fall cruise.

Here’s a picture from our trip:

What we didn’t expect – that a hurricane would pass through Florida during our trip and keep us “trapped at sea” for an additional 24+ hours. We were grateful for the care given us by the staff on the Royal Caribbean cruise and the caution they used to avoid the terrible storm. We couldn’t have experienced a better trip. I’ll share some photos and stories this week. ♥

In today’s post, I want to share a quick rundown of the week (for those who don’t follow me every day) and a little extra background (for those who already tune in every day). All of my posts were created, written and scheduled before I left for the cruise, and the whole week rolled out in perfect sequence.

Monday

I had loads of fun with last month’s Paper Pumpkin kit and have loved sharing my alternate projects. On Monday, I shared the THIRD post with projects I made for my Pumpkin in the Fungeon call using September’s Autumn Abundance Paper Pumpkin Kit. Here’s a look at one of those projects:

It might be difficult to see from the photo, but the Poppy Parade “MANY THANKS” sentiment runs right over the leaf. I stamped the sentiment twice with Poppy Parade – once on the Basic White panel and once over the leaf (over scrap paper) to get that fun effect.

There are two other projects in this post using the same layout. If you’ d like to learn more about these projects and more about September’s kit, CLICK HERE.

Tuesday

On Tuesday I shared a sneak peek at the upcoming Paper Pumpkin Kits for October, November and December. There is a lot to be excited about – including the Merry Tags & More Dies:

I also asked you to please take a look at your Paper Pumpkin subscription to see if you are assigned to a demonstrator – if not (maybe you are former demonstrator who still subscribes or a customer whose demonstrator has dropped), I’d love for you to please add me as your demonstrator. ♥

The upcoming kits are really exciting – if you’d like to learn more, CLICK HERE.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, I shared a sweet-and-simple card I pulled together while getting ready to leave for the cruise. I used the Something for Everything Ephemera Pack to combine the coffee cups and frame to make this card:

Something for Everything Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, Stampin Up!, Brian KingMy card pulls in a woodgrain paper from the To Market Designer Series Paper and a sentiment from the Latte Love stamp set to complete the feel. It’s the warm mix of browns and oranges that really set the tone for this card.

Thursday

On Thursday, I had the great pleasure to share a card made by my incredible friend Allison Okamitsu. Allison and I were chatting while I was filling my posts the week before I left. I threw out a “what do you want to make that I can share on my blog?”. When she immediately said “yes!”, I knew I was in for a treat.

Here’s a look at the card Allison made especially for me to share with you:

Allison shared a video for how she colored the character on her card with Stampin’ Blends – if you’d like to watch that video, CLICK HERE.

Friday

On Friday I launched a Blog Candy Giveaway to share some Stampin’ Up! goodies with one of my blog readers. The goodies will come in handy as you start to make your Valentine’s Day cards (or birthday cards or all-occasion cards). Here’s a look:

Saturday

On Saturday I shared some cupcake-filled notecards I made for some special friends. The cards were relatively simple, but oh-so-sweet. Here’s a look:

Pocket Thoughts, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe card features a mix of stamp sets – the cupcake is pulled from the Pocket Thoughts stamp set, and the sentiments are pulled from the Ice Cream Swirl and Everyday Greetings stamp sets.

Coming Up This Week…

I’ll be making some projects this week with new products I’ve pre-ordered from the Online Exclusives that will be launching for customers in November. I’ll also be sharing some pictures from our vacation, which included a lot of card making (as you suspected).

  1. How wonderful for your mom! And thank goodness you were safe during the hurricane!

  2. The idea of being in the ocean and knowing there was a hurricane approaching must’ve been beyond scary. Glad you are are all OK. And glad Miss Mary got her cruise!
