If you’ve ever visited a seagull-populated beach, then you know the songs of these ocean birds. Seagulls’ songs are ambient at first, offering a soothing backdrop to your peaceful beach visit. The combination of many sweet seagull songs can quickly transform to a squawk that’s hard to escape. I wanted to showcase that squawk when I created this birthday card:
As I was playing with my Friendly Seagulls last weekend, it occurred to me that the birds were all facing to the right or straight forward. What if I wanted one to face the left?! I put a sticky note in my brain that I should play with mirror imaging to create a new bird. I was able to file away that sticky note with the fun card I made today. My focus was on the loud-mouthed seagull – he likely wants to sing your birthday song loud in a crowded restaurant. I rooted around the drawers in my craft room to find my Silicone Craft Sheet (it was in the last place I looked). I stamped the image on the silicone mat and then pressed my Basic White cardstock against it to transfer the reverse of the image to my cardstock. How easy! I added a little Smoky Slate to each bird with my Stampin’ Blends and then blended it out a little with the Color Lifter.
I stamped “Happy Birthday” over and over with the Friends for Life stamp set on a Daffodil Design from the Fruit Salad 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, another Sale-a-Bration product you can choose for free with a $60 order during Sale-a-Bration. I showcased my squawking seagulls and repetitive birthday sentiments over a panel of Coastal Cabana cardstock embossed with the Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder. Here’s a look at that embossing folder:
I added Summer Splash gems from the 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gems for a little shine and to add a little celebration to the birthday card. What fun!
