Brian’s Week in Review: February 16, 2025

Brian's Week in Review

Today is Sunday – and that means it’s time to take a look back at the past week in my Week in Review post. Are we really 3/4 of the way through Sale-a-Bration?! How has the time gone by so fast?! I want to share a quick rundown of the week (for those who don’t follow me every day) with a little extra background (for those who already tune in daily).

Mom has been visiting this week. As always, it’s been nice to have her here. I’ve still be working during the days, so we’ve only had our evenings together. It’s nice, though, to pop upstairs to have lunch with her at noon and hang out for dinner. We enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner with our mothers Friday night – and set aside Saturday for game night. What fun!

On with the week in review…

Monday

On Monday, I looked to the Freshly Made Sketches online challenge for inspiration. The sketch (a simple banner across the card with three banners) gave me every excuse I needed to finally ink up the Documenting the Day stamp set, one of Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-a-Bration offerings. Here’s the card I shared with you on Monday:

Documenting the Day, Birthday Celebration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS672I LOOOVE the Everyday Happiness Designer Series Paper in the January Scrapbooking Brochure and couldn’t wait to showcase it here. In case you missed my post, the “DAY” letters could be used to make “DAY” or “DAD” or “YAY.” Such fun!

Tuesday

I had a little fun with the Friendly Seagulls in Tuesday’s post – but this time I created a mirror image of the squawkiest seagull using my silicone craft mat. So easy! I’ve seen this technique for years and years, but I had never given it a try. I was so happy with how it turned out. Here’s the card I shared on Tuesday:

Friendly Seagulls, Birthday Celebration, Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingYou can hear these birds squawking “happy birthday” over and over at you, can’t you?

Wednesday

Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate all the loves in your life. It’s a day to celebrate with your significant other, but also a day to have fun with friends, grandkids, coworkers and family. Each might have a different spin, but there are so many people around you to share a Valentine with.

In the lead-up to Valentine’s Day, I shared a post of 21 color combinations with Stampin’ Up!’s principle reds and pinks, including:

  • Real Red
  • Cherry Cobbler
  • Poppy Parade
  • Pretty in Pink
  • Melon Mambo
  • Flirty Flamingo
  • Bubble Bath

Here’s one of my favorites from the collection of color combinations I shared:

Thursday

Thursday was Valentine’s Day Eve. Soooo close! I shared some cute tags I made with the Marbled Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Hearts of Elegance Dies. Such fun tags! I had a very different project in mind when I set out to make these tags, but that idea didn’t exactly work the way I wanted. This was a more streamlined project that made me very happy (and I hope made a handful of important people happy, too). Here’s one of the tags I shared with you on Thursday:

Sweet Valentines with Hearts of Elegance Dies, Marbled Elegance Specialty Paper and the Lovely & Sweet stamp set, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI made tags with Melon Mambo, Real Red and Poppy Parade bases and small hearts. Such fun! If you’d like to read more about this sweet tag, CLICK HERE.

Friday

Alas, Friday was Valentine’s Day. I shared a parade of 15 Valentine’s-appropriate cards on Friday to (hopefully) offer a little last-minute inspiration and a lookback at the love-filled cards I had shared with you this past year. Here’s one of my favorites from the collection (which didn’t start out as a Valentine’s Day card, but the big heart and “love you” sentiment make it share worthy):

Saturday

The card I shared with you on Monday for Freshly Made Sketches was selected as a runner up in the design challenge. What an honor! I adored this week’s challenge, too, so I couldn’t help but to play along. Here’s my mostly Lost Lagoon card:

Serene Love Designer Series Paper, My Small Business, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS673, handmade thank you cardThe base panel and plaid panel are from the Timeless Plaid 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, which was on backorder and has come back in stock. It’s currently (as I’m writing this post) on Low Inventory, which means it could sell out again soon. If you love this paper as much as I do, NOW is a great time to place an order.

The flowers are snipped from the Serene Love Designer Series Paper, one of three papers re-introduced with new colors in December. I loved this paper when it was originally launched in black-and-white, but the papers take a new life in a mix of new colors. These papers (along with the other two papers introduced in December’s Special Release) are on sale in the Last Chance offering.

I love that you’ve been with me for so much of this journey. I’ll have so much to share with you next week, too. I hope you’ll join me for the fun!

Thanks for stopping by today!
