Paper Pumpkin Alternatives – Hello Spring

Before I share today’s projects, I want to give you a quick reminder that new Online Exclusives launch tomorrow morning – and they are amazing! That also means today is the last day (before noon) to sign up and pay for products shares. It’s a small offering, so the shares are small (and a great deal!). I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers on Saturday. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. I’m always impressed by what others are making and love to spend that time with my customers who participate. Always such fun!

Pumpkin in the Fungeon, Brian KingFebruary’s Hello Spring kit offers a beautiful mix of herbs and flowers that are perfect for your Spring projects. I adore the designs for these cards, but it’s still fun to play with the elements to make alternative projects with these products. Who doesn’t love to play?! Today I’m sharing two alternative cards I made with February’s kit. I was happy to share these cards during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call – and I’m happy to share these with you today.

More About The Kit

The designed projects in February’s kit are lovely. And…the sentiments are lovely. Here’s a look at the finished projects (as designed) from February’s Hello Spring Paper Pumpkin Kit:

Alternative Projects

While I adore the kit’s cards as designed, I wanted to play with the contents of the kit to make something a little different. I was inspired by the mix of Old Olive, Boho Blue and Basic Beige in these card designs, so I referenced those colors as often as I could in my own designs. Here’s a look at the cards I made with the contents of this kit:

Sending Love

Stampin’ Up!’s cardstock is manufactured so the color of the paper is consistent through the page. If you rip the paper, you can see the same color at the core. BUT…if you tear the Designer Series Paper or papers in the Paper Pumpkin Kits, you will find a white core. I cut into the Old Olive, Boho Blue and Basic Beige card bases and then tore them with my fingers (my “favorite pair of scissors!”) to expose the white inside. I layered them together – one large green pieces and torn strips of the others – to build the base for this card:

The frame around the Boho Blue label is stamped with the Labeled with Love stamp set and punched out with the Labeled with Love Punch. The chives are cropped with the Spring is in the Air Dies (the Q1 Paper Pumpkin Dies). I accented the focal point of the card with Boho Blue dots from the 2023-2025 In Color Opaque Sparkle Dots.

Here’s a look at the Labeled with Love stamp set, which can be purchased alone OR in a bundle with a set of dies OR in a bundle with a punch:

Your Kindness

I love the card bases in February’s Paper Pumpkin kit – because the front and back include the pattern, I can DOUBLE the amount of cards I make by cutting those card bases and mounting them on a cardstock base. I used both of the card bases on this card:

I added two leafy elements from the kit and a sentiment from Mixed Labels stamp set and gold embellishments from the Low-Profile Dots.
