Brian’s Week in Review: September 14, 2025

Brian's Week in ReviewWelcome to my Week in Review! Each Sunday, I like to share a quick recap for those who don’t follow along every day—and a little extra behind-the-scenes for those who do. But first, here’s a peek at my week outside of the projects I’ve shared on my blog …

More About My Incredible Week

What an INCREDIBLE week this has been! When I passed my $1 million in sales milestone earlier this year*, I knew I would be invited to Stampin’ Up!’s home office for a special retreat with others who achieved their milestone in the current year. I knew it would be great, but I didn’t know how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING the experience would be.

*legal disclaimer: the level of sales required to achieve this result is accomplished by less than 1% of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators

I’m back from my time in Salt Lake City, and I’m grateful you all behaved yourself while I was gone (I can always count on you). Today I’m sharing two fun selfies from my trip – tomorrow I’ll be back with more photos and highlights from my unforgettable adventure.

Here are two selfies I snapped at the home office to whet your appetite:

As always, I shared several projects on my blog this week. If you missed any of them, here’s a quick look back:

Monday

On Monday I shared a spooky sweet card that mixes fun Halloween images with a page of the Lights of Aurora 6″ x 6″ Paper (designed for Winter). Such a fun combination! Here’s the card I shared:

Tuesday

Tuesday post had been percolating for months now, so I was happy to finally share it with you. In this post, I shared 5 great ways to showcase gorgeous landscapes on a card and gave several examples of projects I’ve made. With so many great landscape patterns on current papers, I hope you found these suggestions helpful!

Here’s an example of one of my favorite techniques – cut the paper into strips and reposition on the card:

Friday was a special day because it was Ms. Goldie’s 100th birthday. On Friday I shared the card I made to celebrate her milestone birthday. Here’s the card I made for her:

Saturday

Ms. Goldie’s birthday was so special that it took me two posts to fully share the details about her card. On Saturday, I shared more details about her card – how I made the woodgrain background on the focal panel.

Charming Day, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, birthday cardIn my post, I shared HOW to make the faux wood background like the one on my card and included tips for creating the look you want. To learn more, CLICK HERE.

Bonus! You all sent so many wonderful wishes for Ms. Goldie on her milestone birthday. Liz (her daughter and my friend) sent me this picture of her on the special day:

  10. Brian, Congrats on your $1 million sales! Can’t wait to see your stamp set that you designed! I know it will be great! I’ve been seeing a few pics of the fun at the retreat! I might be half blind but is the DSP used in the snowy trees current? I can’t seem to find it. I love that card but I like most of your card designs. Have a great day and week!

    • Thank you so much, Vicky! It was an amazing retreat! The card you are referencing used the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP, which is retired. The card was pulled from a past post to showcase the technique I was describing. ♥
