In the days following Christmas, I start taking down decorations and filing away holiday-themed items in the Fungeon. Before all of the craft supplies get tucked away, though, I like to make a few thank you cards that stretch the season just a little longer. There’s no reason those Christmas supplies can’t work a bit harder.
Two Thank You Cards
I love a card layout that’s versatile and easy to reproduce with different patterns, and I was so happy when this one came together. Today I’m sharing two cards created with patterns from the Elegant Pine Snowflakes Designer Series Paper:
Here’s a closer look at each of these cards:
I’ll share the measurements for all of the layers in a moment, but first I want to showcase the gorgeous colors and patterns in the Elegant Pine Snowflakes Designer Series Paper:
The Sentiment
I have thoroughly loved the simplicity of the sentiments in the Simply Said stamp set. I use these sentiments all. the. time. While I appreciate a beautifully styled font, a clean typeface allows the rest of the card design to take center stage.
Here’s a look at the Simply Said stamp set:
The Layers
When I find a layout I love, I’m always happy to share the measurements so you can recreate the card using your own papers and images. Here’s a look at the layers, starting with the card base and working my way up:
- Basic Black – 4-1/4″ x 11″ (scored at 5-1/2″)
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Basic White – 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
- Elegant Pine Snowflakes Designer Series Paper
- 3-3/4″ x 5″ or
- three panels, each measuring 1-1/4″ x 5″
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Basic White – 3-1/8″ x 3-3/8″
- Elegant Pine Snowflakes Designer Series Paper
- 3″ x 3-1/4″ or
- three panels, each measuring 1″ x 3-1/4″
- Sentiment stamped on 1/2″ strip of white, framed with 5/8″ strip of black and a 3/4″ strip of white
This layered approach makes it easy to switch out patterns, colors, or even themes while keeping the same basic structure.
Final Touches
I decorated the sentiment on my cards with a trio of champagne Drusy Embellishments. These little gems add just the right touch of elegance. I auditioned several embellishment options, but the search ended the moment I came across these beauties.
Last Thoughts
This layout is one I’ll be returning to again and again. It’s quick to assemble, easy to customize, and perfect for using up seasonal Designer Series Paper you might not be ready to put away just yet. Whether you’re making thank you cards, winter greetings, or even cards for other occasions, this design is a great one to keep in your idea files.

Hi Brian
Thanks for sharing this great layout and instruction details!
It is a great way to use DSP ! I’m going to try this with the December True Blue Florals , which is still in the package! lol
I also use my “Simply Said” set all the time.
I need a few early January birthday cards and this layout with an added leaf/ flower would be great!
The True Blue Florals paper would be PERFECT with this layout. I mentioned on a call this afternoon that I might play with it this coming week, too. ♥
Love that crisp thank you but especially love the pretty mix of patterns.
This paper is really beautiful – patterns and colors. Thanks, Mary!
