Yesterday I shared an Easter card that featured a chevron pattern created with the diagonal lines in the Pleasant Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper. Today I’m hopping from Easter to St. Patrick’s Day with another fun way to play with those same diagonal lines.
Here’s the St. Patrick’s Day card I made to share with you today:
My card features two stamp sets that should both be on your wish list, but let’s start with the design hidden behind the sentiment and shamrocks.
The Fun Pattern
Like yesterday’s Easter project, the four panels that create the background pattern on my card are cut from the Shy Shamrock striped foil pages of the Pleasant Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper.
Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this fun pack of papers:
With the second-smallest square from the Stylish Shapes Dies, I cut four panels from the Pleasant Patterns Specialty Paper, aligning a stripe from corner to corner with the die.
Because the lines are evenly spaced on the paper, they don’t fit together perfectly when the pieces are arranged. But that slight offset actually adds a lot of charm to the design and creates a playful geometric look.
Here’s a look at the base pattern created with the Pleasant Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper before I added the other elements to the card:
Big Celebrations
My St. Patrick’s Day card features two stamp sets that are perfect for a variety of celebrations.
The shamrocks are from the Seasonal Celebrations stamp set, and the sentiments are from the Reason to Celebrate stamp set.
Here’s a closer look at how these two stamp sets play together on this card:
Here’s a look at the Spring celebrations found in the Seasonal Celebrations stamp set – holidays, graduations and other joyful celebrations:
And if you caught yesterday’s post, you may recognize the Reason to Celebrate stamp set. I used it there as well, and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites for festive sentiments.

Last Thoughts
Sometimes the simplest ideas create the most interesting designs. By cutting striped paper on the diagonal and arranging the pieces together, you can create a bold geometric background with almost no extra effort.
Pair that playful pattern with a couple of festive stamps and you have a cheerful card that’s perfect for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day – or just sending a little luck to someone who could use it.

Doing the jig for your cool idea with the DSP!
How festive! Thanks, Mary!
At first glance I didn’t realize the stripes weren’t a perfect match, but
It is a perfect card for St. Patrick’s Day! May need to rethink adding these two sets for future use. So many sentiments in one set! Love the card!
Thanks, Barbara! Happy to have them on hand for projects like this. So glad you like what I’m made. 🙂
