All good things must come to an end… and so it goes with the alternative projects I created with May’s Sparkling Celebrations Paper Pumpkin Kit. Today I’m sharing the fourth – and final – alternative project I made with elements from the kit.
A moment of pure honesty: when I first opened the Sparkling Celebrations Kit, I didn’t think I would enjoy making alternatives with it. The designed projects felt so specific that I wasn’t sure there was much room to change things up. Boy, was I wrong! Once I started playing with the pieces, the ideas just kept coming. I ended up having so much fun with this kit!
Here’s the fourth project I made with the Sparkling Celebrations Paper Pumpkin Kit:
At first glance, you might think this is simply a layered card with a few added elements from the kit – but let me show you how it opens:
When I cut a strip from one of the card bases to use on the “welcome” card I shared on Monday, I was left with this 2-3/4″ strip from the original card front. Why waste it?! I attached the folded panel to one of the 5″ x 3-3/4″ envelopes from the kit, then layered it onto a Basic Black frame and a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
I added a strip of Darling Duckling patterned paper from the envelope and stamped it with “Wishing you.” I tucked the sentiment beneath a pair of lanterns and popped the lanterns up with Stampin’ Dimensionals for added depth.
Inside the card, I completed the sentiment with the word “happiness” and added even more lanterns:
I’m really happy with how this one turned out! What do you think? Do you enjoy cards with unexpected openings like this? And aren’t these rich colors and glowing lanterns just gorgeous together?

Last Thoughts
One of my favorite parts of crafting is discovering possibilities I didn’t expect at the beginning of a project. This kit surprised me in the very best way. What first looked limiting quickly became inspiring, and I love that this final project came together by repurposing leftover pieces into something interactive and fun.
Even if you don’t have this kit or the refills, I hope today’s card is inspiration for a card you’ll soon make.
Thanks for stopping by today!

I really like the layout of this card, but I have trouble with cards that don’t “stand up”. I would probably make this a “regular” card that stood up when it was opened. Thanks for sharing the idea!
