Big Letters, Big Fun: BOO for the Be Inspired Blog Hop

It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who share themed projects each month. I’m so honored to be part of this talented group of stampers!

Today’s blog hop theme is Creative Sentiments, and I’ve got a fun one to share with you. My card features just one word with three big letters, but it’s the way I’ve positioned them that makes the sentiment so playful.

BOO

I love a big, bold sentiment. You might have to squint for a second to read this one, but that’s exactly what makes it so much fun! It’s a bit like a Magic Eye picture – the longer you stare at it, the more clearly the letters appear.

Here’s the card I created for today’s sentiment-centric Be Inspired Blog Hop:

BOO with the Party Alphabet Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, fun Halloween card

The Timid Tiger card base measures 6-3/4″ x 7″ (scored at 3-1/2″) and is layered with two patterns from the Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper.

Here’s how I built the letters on the top panel:

  • Using the Party Alphabet Dies, I cropped the letters B-O-O from a striped pattern in the Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper.
  • I then cropped the same letters from Basic Black cardstock and adhered the striped letters on top, offsetting them just a smidge to create a shadow effect.
  • Next, I cut another piece of the striped paper for the top panel (5-3/4″ x 2-3/4″). This allowed me to position the letters in a way that looks intentional while keeping them slightly out of alignment.
  • I attached the letters with Mini Glue Dots to lift them just a bit from the background without adding the height of Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Finally, I added four stars from the Wonderful Stars Puffy Stickers for a touch of Halloween charm.

Here’s a closer look at the letters so you can see how they line up – and don’t line up:

BOO with the Party Alphabet Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, fun Halloween cardI have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper, and this certainly won’t be the last time you see it here. The black-and-white patterns are elegant and versatile, but they can also be surprisingly playful, as this card proves. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns included in the collection:

The Party Alphabet Dies are available on their own, but you can save 10% when you purchase them as part of a bundle with the Party Banner Dies. Last Thoughts

Sometimes a sentiment doesn’t need extra words to make a big impact. By playing with placement, alignment, and scale, a simple three-letter word becomes the focal point of the entire card. It’s a reminder that creativity isn’t always about adding more – sometimes it’s about finding a fresh way to showcase something simple.
