Moroccan Nights – a Sneak Peek

My amazing upline, Pam, came back from Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage event with some goodies from the soon-to-be released 2016 Annual Catalog that I borrowed to create a couple of fun projects.  Last week I shared a couple of cards with sneak peek items – both cards featured Marquee Messages, and you can see them here and here.  Today I’m excited to share a sneak peek of Moroccan Nights – more about this suite of products later.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

• Moroccan Nights.  Moroccan Nights is a stamp set from a gorgeous suite of products in the new catalog.  While the suite is designed with gorgeous patterns and beautiful, rich colors (navy, rust, brown), I used the focal emblem from the stamp set to make a soft, sweet image.  I adore how flexible this emblem is – it can be used for almost any type of card and can be the focus or a sweet accent.  The set comes with some beautiful lights and lanterns that are sure to be popular.  Just look at how gorgeous this patterned image is:
• Painted Pearls.  The soft emblem in this card is offset by a spattering of shiny, black pearls.  How elegant do these guys look against this card’s Mint Macaron backdrop?  To create this effect, I simply colored a variety of Pearl Basic Jewels with a Black Sharpie Marker.  Two coats gave me the exact intensity I wanted.  To position them on the card, I glued down my two larger pearls first and then filled in the spaces with my patented squint technique.  Try it!  (and then send me a nickel)
• Colors.  How beautiful is this pairing of Mint Macaron, Basic Black and Whisper White?  Not only are these three colors represented on the focal panel of the card, but they are repeated on the base of the card, as well.  I love when there’s no need to add a third color because they colors you’ve got are already working so well together.
