I’m So Sorry

I love CAS (“clean and simple”). It’s sometimes the hardest thing to accomplish – with so many ribbons, brads and other accessories available, how can you not want to add more? This is the first week I am participating in the Freshly Made Sketch Challenge, and this challenge is just that – sweet and to the point. Here’s the sketch we are challenged to interpret:

I received Pleasant Poppies in the mail today and have been anxious to put it to use.  Here’s my chance!  Here’s the card I created for the sketch challenge:

I referenced the sketch several times today and then quickly made my card when I got home.  I was finished gluing everything down before I realized that I got my big circle and small circle switched in my final result, but there’s no denying the inspiration helped me to get here.  I quite like it this way.

Quick tips:

  • Soften the edges.  With the round punches serving as the centerpiece of the card, I wanted to soften the edges of the card stock on which they are mounted, so I cut the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Punch.  I extended that further and cut the corners of the base card and the left side of the piece of the sentiment mount.  I also punched the sentiment with the Word Window Punch to result in rounded edges there, too.  The rounded corners really add a special touch to this card.
  • Snip it!  I snipped card stock pieces on my last card, and I had high expectations of water coloring for this one.  At the end of the day, though, I decided that snipping these flowers in bold, bright colors would result in a dramatic effect, so I did it again.
