Simple Saturday: Card with Video

I hosted a super-fun workshop last weekend.  While I don’t host a lot of them, I love a good live event.  In today’s post, I am sharing the quick-and-easy card I designed for this group of beginner stampers.  I like this technique so much that I decided to share it with my monthly club, a group of seasoned stampers and crafters.  They loved the card, too, which encouraged me to share it with you.  AND I was so happy to share it that I decided to pull together a quick video.  Here’s my card:

  1. Starting my Saturday with a video from you is just great, Brian! Loved this easy technique…definitely a card to CASE. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Even a Simple Saturday card brings a “wow”! I love the Strawberry Slush and Midnight Muse together … the sponged circle is what gives the “wow” for me … with the “spotlight” look in its center. Nice video, too, Brian. Thanks so much!

  3. Fabulous – quick – lovely! Your video is very professional! Thanks for sharing.

Wait a minute… it’s Simple Saturday? And Brian made a sweet & simple video to go along with the card? And he used Strawberry Slush with Midnight Muse? And he demonstrated a quick & easy technique? AND I fit into category 2 & 3 because I need to make a quick & effective card while simultaneously being TOTALLY AWESOME?!?!?!!! Yippee-doodle-Skippy-hoodle-woo-hoo!!!!! 🙂 Brian, you are totally AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!!!

  5. love it…hope there will be another Atlanta event this year…

  6. Just loved the video! And I love the card. Thanks for making my Saturday morning so great!

  7. I totally agree… A not everything has to line up perfectly and be 100% straight. I often use the same saying to myself when things aren’t “perfect”. Great technique… Off to look for sponges in the catalogue!

  8. Great way to start a Saturday! Beautiful card. May have to CASE for my monthly card class! Thanks! (You will, of course, get credit! )

  9. Love the stamp and love your videos…could we have more please?

  10. Oh my gosh. Totally awesome. I had not even noticed that stamp set before. It is now a must have on my next order. And I absolutely will be making those super easy circles. Thanks for another great card.

  11. Thanks for the short video to demonstrate the technique 🙂 It was great “seeing” you 🙂 I love the simple Saturday card. Keep up the tradition of Simple Saturdays 🙂

  12. Thanks, Brian! What an awesome and easy card to make in my beginning stamp classes. Love the color choices and the stamp set you chose. Thank you again 🙂

  13. Loved it, so quick and easy. Have a great week-end. Hugs n’ Stuff, Lynne

  14. What a great way to start Saturday! Thanks for a fun video, Brian, and a cute, quick and awesome card!

  15. Love it ! Simple Saturday needs to be a regular video time . It would give everyone some week end ideas to try ! And you know we would all be here . Fun card !

  16. Brian – you’re so dang cute it isn’t funny! Love seeing the videos and the tips are always so helpful. The card was perfect for a new stamper. I bet they all went away with smiles on their faces and in total amazement that they, yes they themselves, could make something so beautiful so easily! I know that is how I felt the first time I made a card and now look – I’m totally hooked. Thanks for the video Brian and for everything you do.

  17. quick and simple cards are usually the best, and this card proves it! Nice job

  18. Woohoo Brian , love it , great job !!! ,
    Hugs frenchie ,

  19. Oh how I love this beauty of a card! And SO SIMPLE!!! I did this type of sponging using a square template last month (my very first time) and I love this technique!! I will certainly do this again using a circle template. I love the tip on how to achieve the highlight in the center. Thank you for sharing another video as I do love watching you and learning from you! 🙂

  20. Brian that is fantastic! Sometimes we get so caught up in all the new complicated techniques and products that we forget how beautiful those quick and easy cards are. Thank you for sharing!

  21. love the simplicity of the card, but what really got my attention was the sponge storage!! I had heard of the tab punch trick of stapling the colour coded ‘handle’ to the sponge, but duh!! why didn’t I think of the compartmentalised? (is that a word?) container…greater minds than mine, for sure!! Thanks for the great video,Brian.

  22. Will be adding to my Simple Saturday archives. Most definitely will be using this layout. Love it. Hey, great minds think alike! I also use the same kind of plastic organizer for my sponges.

  23. Love the card! So simple, but looks much more difficult. I love your comment ” a little bit crooked, but that is a little bit fine”. I think the same way, it is handmade so everything is not perfect. I try let stampers in my workshops know that. Some times they get so hung up on “perfect.”

  24. Hi Brian, I’m deeply impressed by your site! What a beautiful blog !
Thank you very much for the great tips and Videos you made!

  25. Quick, easy, and beautiful…well done, thank you!:-)

  26. What a great card. Thank you so much for sharing.

  27. I have used this technique & love it! Had held off ordering the sponges, think they will be going on my list now. Love the idea of the card showing colour on sponge combined with being a holder!! Neat 😉

  28. Great video. I haven’t used this technique in forever. Great idea for any occasion.

  29. I just made this card with the vine from Thoughts & Prayers, and it’s gorgeous! Thanks again for the fabulous inspiration!
