So Sweet for Freshly Made Sketches – Sneak Peeks

It’s Simple Saturday, and I’m excited to share a clean-and-layered card that features a variety of Sneak Peek items from the upcoming 2014-2015 Annual Catalog.  A hostess stamp set, a new Designer Series Paper, new ribbon and two of the new In Colors.  Woo hoo!  While the card is designed with all of these new items, it’s also inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  Here’s my card:

Hello There, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS132And here’s Amy O’Neill’s sketch that inspired my card:Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Rich and Gorgeous.  As with the release of each catalog, I’m super-excited about the Designer Series Paper selection.  The background of this card features Park Lane Designer Series Paper, a gorgeous paper that’s filled with rich patterns and colors.  This pattern is offset by the very regal Blackberry Bliss, the most versatile (in my opinion) of the new 2014-2016 In Colors.  The small banners of new ribbon offer a repeat these rich colors.
  • On the Border.  In yesterday’s project for The Paper Players, I framed the central panel with a thin border of Calypso Coral (see that card here).  Casing my own project, I repeated that look on today’s card (the Calypso Coral was already out, so…).  I really love how the Calypso Coral really pops against the deep colors (Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow).
  • So Sweet of You.  I really love this hostess stamp set, Hello There.  I heat embossed the image on Blackberry Bliss card stock and punched it out with a 1-1/4″ Circle punch.  The embossing powder really pops against the dark card stock.  With the Calypso Coral borders and the embossed sentiment, there’s a whole lotta’ poppin’ going’ on here, huh?

Stamp Sets:  Hello There (hostess, sneak peek)  Papers:  Mossy Meadow, Calypso Coral, Whisper White, Park Lane Designer Series Paper (sneak peek) Accessories:  3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon (Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss), 1-3/4″ Circle punch, Circles Collection Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by today!

  3. Oh Yeah! Nice!! Love that Park Lane! Wow looks like Calypso Coral is illuminated behind Blackberry Bliss, great color combinations here!

  4. Love the color combo. The Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow change the color look of the Calypso Coral. I was wondering what that color was. Well, everything else about this card is great too. 🙂

  5. Yummy!!! Love that new ribbon!

I love that DSP, looks so rich and elegant, I think Blackberry Bliss is a stunning color and the way you pair it here with the Mossy Meadow and just a hint of Calypso Coral, looks fabulous. Very pretty card.

  7. I love the richness of those colors together. Just beautiful.

  8. Just gorgeous.
    Happy Week-End Brian!

  9. Nice color combo but I must of missed that DSP in the preorder. Like it.

    • Lucille – Park Lane wasn’t in the pre-order. I won it in a giveaway during the Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip. It’s very luxurious. 🙂

  10. I must say that blackberry bliss is looking more beautiful to me each day. I think using just that small amount of whisper white really made the other colors stand out. This is an elegant piece of artwork if you ask me. You are a creative genius of the kind labeled “extraordinaire”! Enjoy your weekend Brian.

  11. The Calypso Coral just makes the other colors pop ! Love the Blackberry Bliss.
    A very classy card.
    Thank you for sharing!

  12. Well, I never would have thought to add Calypso Coral to this combination, but it works so beautifully. And I love how you’ve used that large-print dsp. Fabulous job with the sketch, Brian!

  13. I like everything about the card except the Calypso Coral. To me it’s not contrast it’s clash. I have been trying to think what color I would use in its place, though – perhaps the lighter color in the DSP? hello honey? Rich Razzleberry? Old Olive? smoky slate? I don’t mean to be critical, just a comment about personal taste that ay contribute to creative discussion. –
    – By the way, I think I have read most of your blog posts and I usually agree with your creative choices and look forward to your daily dose of inspiration.

    • Thanks! I knew the bright Coral would pop against the rich colors – that’s what I was going for here. I always want people to change things up to their preference, so no hard feelings. 🙂

  14. Love, love, LOVE that coral layer in there!

  15. Such beautiful card with my favorite colour ! I can not wait to get the new catalog- it is not available yet here … Greetings, Anita

  16. Love this card and the color combo! Will need to try it!

  17. Love your creative choices, the CC pop drew my eye in and made me appreciate the subtly of the dsp. A bold pattern but the CC challenged and toned it down while also showing the pattern all the more. Not sure that made sense to anyone else but me 🙁 ah well, today’s lol comment…

  18. Wow!!! I love everything about this card, these new colors are fabulous
