Yesterday, I shared a rich and regal card with Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow (two of the new In Colors) and Park Lane (a new Designer Series Paper available starting June 2). If you missed that card, you can see it here. Today, I’m showing a different side of the beautifully rich Designer Series Paper – today’s project shows the soft and natural side of this paper. Here’s my card for this week’s Friday Mashup Challenge:
And here’s the challenge banner for this week’s Friday Mashup Challenge:

The Mashup Team challenges us to make a card that (a) follows the above sketch, (b) is a “get well” card or (c) is a mashup of the two. I chose to complete both challenges this week.
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Fabulous Florets? For several years, Stampin’ Up! has sold a gorgeous floral set called Fabulous Florets. While the set has been retired (and the clear mount version of the set has sold out), I did not use the flowers here. It’s true. Park Lane includes this page of paper that has, among other flowers, the same flower as Fabulous Florets. I simply snipped it out of the Designer Series Paper to showcase it in the center of the square piece.
- Surprise Colors.  These pages are composed of Soft Suede and Whisper White – the “Vanilla” on the flower is simply a lighter shade of Soft Suede. I love the pairing of brown and white but placed the pieces on a Very Vanilla background to accentuate the softness of the papers. The real surprise is the inclusion of Daffodil Delight. Certainly they would have chosen So Saffron or Hello Honey, but no. After I recovered from the shock of it all, I really grew to appreciate the brightness that’s added by the Daffodil Delight.
- Decorating the Envelope.  I don’t always decorate the accompanying envelope, but it’s fun when I do. To create a coordinating envelope, I added a 3/4″ strip of the Soft Suede paper and a snipped flower along the bottom of the envelope front. It’s not much work, but it really adds a great appeal, don’t you think?
Stamp sets: A Dozen Thoughts, Happy Watercolor (the stem of the flower) Papers: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Park Lane Designer Series Paper Inks: Soft Suede Accessories: Brights Candy Dots (Daffodil Delight)

I love this card. For some reason it takes me back to the 70s. The colours are wonderful together. I can not wait to get my new catalog.
That is such a wonderful soft gently nice warm card ! I want that paper too 😉 Makes me want to mashup with the Friday Mashup too- if I have the time I will do it … Greetings Anita
No wonder this flower look familiar, it’s really just like the big flower on Fabulous Florets!! Your card is beautiful, the color combination is beautiful too. What is on the other side of this gorgeous DSP? is it the design you used yesterday with the Blackberry Bliss? both designs are gorgeous, hard to choose which one to glue to the card.
Oh boy! So very nice! I need to get me some Park Lane!! Very handsome in neutrals and love the chevron DSP layer here!
I like it too and will be ordering it soon. I was surprised to read that it wasn’t stamped Fabulous Florets! How nice for them to use that as a DSP, I like it.
Love this Brian!
You get an A for snipping ! It is perfection ! This is a great combination of patterns and colors . I like this sketch and your choices kept it from being “yawn”. Well done !
I love the fresh and soft look. So clever to snip the flower out of the DSP. I need to work on my fussy snipping. You must have had a better kindergarten teacher than me because your snipping it flawless.
And yet again, you wield a mean scissor! Love this card Brian! And that envelope is super!
Such a lovely card! I loved yesterday’s as well! Love this Park Lake DSP! Have a Sunny Sunday! 🙂
Thanks Brian, now I have to get Park Lane dsp!!! You make it look so beautiful and so easy. As always, thanks for sharing!
Hi Brian:
I think one of the reasons your designs are always brilliant is the way you back almost every element with additional card stock. It makes each panel you design JUMP right off the card. Your attention to detail is absolutely amazing and you possess one ability that I am very jealous of – that being the ability to put very different patterned papers together and make them look like they were made for each other. Even when I have a pack of coordinated DSP I seem to lack that special something that you have. You are an artist in the true sense of the word and every one of your blog followers feels the same I’m sure.
Amen! Worded perfectly 🙂
It’s really cool that you get to get all these “Sneak Peek” items before us. I wish Park Lane had been one of the Pre-order items. It definitely makes me one to have that on my June 2nd purchase.
OOPS! I meant to say want not one.
So soothing….
Gorgeous
I love the look of this card. The colors are perfect together. Another winner!!
Thank-you for helping us look at DSP up close and helping us to see the intricate beauty in the paper. Your card is beautiful.
I love this card. It’s soft and comforting. The perfect card to cheer someone who isn’t feeling well. Awesome job Brian
Wow! The colors really stood out to me. I love this combo and your card. Very nice.
In one swoop you hae convinced me that I need this paper! Well done!
I LOVE the pop of Daffodil Delight, its the first thing that drew my eye in! What a terrific idea to cut out the flower for the main focal image, it looks fantastic.
Great job mashing up the challenge, thanks so much for playing along with us at The Friday Mashup!
I love this card!!!! I’ll be casing it for sure. 🙂
Very fun to see the new products coming our way soon. I love the way you used the paper for the main image. Thanks for joining the Friday Mashup this week.
This is beautiful! I can’t wait to get my hands on that paper! Thanks for joining us this week at The Friday Mashup.
Oh, I love this! Such a great neutral based card with a splash of brightness that is so cheerful. Great designing again, Mr. King:)
