Simple Saturday with a Snowy, Snipped Santa

This week’s Freshly Made Sketches offers a wonderful layout for a super-simple project – just perfect for a Simple Saturday project – and grants me the opportunity to share this stoutly adorable Santa from Get Your Santa On.  Could he be more adorable?  Here’s my card:Get Your Santa On, Christmas Tagables, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS157 And here’s Amy O’Neill’s Freshly Made Sketches layout that inspired my jolly card:Sketch Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, FMS157Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • New Stamp Set?  You might recognize Jolly Old St. Nick from Get Your Santa On in the Holiday Catalog, but do you recognize the sentiment?  It’s from Christmas Tagables, a photopolymer stamp set that was introduced last year and is still available.  If you don’t have this set, now’s a great time to pick it up – works perfectly for tags and cards alike.  Click on the image below to see these images in my online store.
  • Honoring the Sketch.  Amy’s sketch calls for two patterns in the central panel – one above the band and one below the band.  While this piece of Santa & Co Designer Series Paper is one piece, I cut the paper strategically so that the more dense snowflakes are in the top piece.
  • A Red, White and Blue Christmas Card.  I love these three shades of color together – Marina Mist, Real Red and Whisper White.  Because there’s so much blue compared to the red and white, the card doesn’t read “patriotic” – instead, I think it evokes a cool, but warm feeling.  It’s all in the proportions – equal portions look patriotic, while a larger balance of blue or red or white changes the mood entirely.  If you are inspired by this color combination, please feel free to save this:Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingGet Your Santa On, Christmas Tagables, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS157

Would You Like Me to Visit Your House.  This past week, I hosted my first Facetime workshop with a stamping group five states away.  What fun!  A small group reached out to me and asked me to be their demonstrator.  The group placed a workshop order in exchange for projects and instruction I mailed to them in advance – and a little Facetime greeting/walkthrough from me.  If you’d like to set up a monthly club with me, please reach out to me at [email protected].  I’d love to be your demonstrator, and I would love to work with you.  🙂

  11. Oh, I agree with everybody, this little Santa is cute as he can be. I love how you utilized that pretty DSP to be his background, it looks like it’s snowing and, like Sonny said, Santa is trying to catch the snow flakes. The sentiment fits perfectly this adorable image. Have a blast of a weekend.

  12. What a cute card–I, too, love using this shade of blue for Christmas cards.
Your Santa looks laid back and happy to be catching those snowflakes–awesome!
