Hey There for FabFri55

It’s Friday – and that means one thing.  OK, it means several things (for example, it’s the end of my work week, it’s jeans day in the office and today rhymes with “spy play”).  What I was trying to say was – it’s time for a FabFriday challenge.  Yippee!  This week’s sketch has so many possibilities – and I’m pretty sure I tossed ALL of them around in my head this week – and several made it to paper.  There’s a deadline for everything, though, so I settled in on an idea and went with it.  Glad I did.  Here’s my card:

Hey There Bud, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FabFri55And here’s the FabFriday sketch that inspired my creation:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Stamp, Snip, Glue.  This image looks really simple, but there’s a lot of stamping, snipping and gluing going on here.  I stamped the entire image (masking the sentiment) in Baked Brown Sugar on the panel of Whisper White.  On scrap pieces of Whisper White, I stamped the image in Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz.  I then snipped and snipped and snipped, followed by gluing and gluing and gluing.
  • Color Combination.  I wanted to step away from Christmas and Thanksgiving cards for just a bit.  These colors really appeal to me – the softness of Crisp Cantaloupe and Pear Pizzazz blend well with the brightness of Calypso Coral and the neutral look of Baked Brown Sugar.  If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this:Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian KIng
  • An Understated Base.  I love this sentiment framed in these circles.  I was about to glue it all down when I thought I needed to add something else – know the feeling?  I didn’t want the addition to pop, so I added two soft, thin banners beneath the sentiment.  These banners pulled in two of the colors from the image on the card – Pear Pizzazz and Crisp Cantaloupe without taking away from the beauty of the image above.

  1. Brian, this stamp set is literally sitting on top if my desk waiting to be inked up. I absolutely love this card (color combo, layout, little banners). If you don’t have anybody to send this to (hint hint) I could probably give you am idea if someone whoay LOVE to receive this card. ;-).

  2. Amazingly beautiful paper snipping!!! Love the combination of colors, you really stepped away from the ”traditional” colors of the season, but the ones you chose are beautiful too. Who ever receives this card will surely feel extra special.
    Thank you for sharing.

  3. What a beautiful card! Worth all that snipping for sure! Thanks Brian!

  8. Hi Brian:
This card is very, very impressive. It’s the kind of card I like to keep handy and when I am thinking of an old friend or one that is going through some kind of life crisis. I always try to send a card with a little note. I just want them to know I’m thinking of them. This card fits that need no matter what season it is. Thanks for such a thoughtful, beautiful creation.

  9. I literally held my breath when I saw this card–such soft and pretty colors on a soothing background. A lot of snipping, but well worth it. You outdid yourself (and that’s saying a lot!) with this one, Brian. So well done! It would make a wonderful sympathy or “thinking of you” card.

  10. The color theory and details are what makes this a medal winner card . That subtle repeat of colors in the banners and circle mat under the sentiment are just the right touch . Another Capt. Clever creation !!

  11. What a beautiful card. I think the colors give it a very soft, feminine feeling that’s set off so well by the neutral base. Cards like this one not only make me envy your creativity, but also your patience. That much snipping would have me contemplating things we should never verbalize, lol. Awesome job

  12. WOW, to me that WOW SAYS IT ALL !!!
BRIAN that is beautiful, the colors and how you present it !
    Great job !!!
    Tfs ,
    Hugs Frenchie
