Mingle all the Way for FMS163

I’m excited to share today’s card.  Not only does the project include non-traditional colors on a Christmas card, but it’s also inspired by a Freshly Made Sketches sketch by my friend Cindy Hall.  Love this sketch, and I’m happy with my finished project.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Masking all the Way.  The image for this sentiment is surrounded by tiny snowflakes.  I masked those snowflakes when I stamped the sentiment in Strawberry Slush so that I could fully surround the sentiment with Coastal Cabana snowflakes.  If you missed my video about how to mask images, click here.
  • Snowflakes all the Way.  These tiny snowflakes are from the Visions of Santa stamp set.  Because they are photopolymer, I didn’t have to work very had to make sure they were placed exactly where I wanted them – I could see right through the stamp.  I created a wisp of snowflakes that blow in from the northwest to surround the warm, fun sentiment.  The snowflakes are actually very similar to the snowflakes in the sentiment, but I masked them to keep all the snowflakes the same color.
  • Tying a Knot all the Way.  I had a lot of fun playing around with the thick baker’s twine for this card.  After wrapping the twine around the card three times, I tied a loose knot around the strands.  I pulled one strand underneath so I could tighten the knot underneath the strands.  I pulled one end over the top of the card and pulled the other end under the bottom of the card.  It all happened by mistake, but I’m happy with how it turned out.

Major Flaw.  Did you catch the major problem with this card?  I noticed it after taking the pictures.  A week ago, Karen came by to use one of my punches for a workshop, so I sent her down to the Fungeon – then found out she was punching a whole bunch of ovals with gold glimmer paper.  Gold glitter pops up here and there – and there’s a speck of it on this card in the center of the twine strands above the knot.  See it?  Here’s a closer look:
