Happy Thoughts for PPA258 & PP251

I do love when a sketch challenge and a color challenge can come together to simplify the process of creating a card.  I had many of the components of this card pulled together for this week’s PPA Color Challenge when I realized they’d work perfectly with the sketch over at The Paper Players.  Yippee!  Showcasing All Boxed Up and Sprinkles of Life for these two challenges, here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • All Boxed Up.  How cute is this sentiment?!  If you aren’t buying the All Boxed Up kit, you might not have paid attention to this super-cute stamp set.  Even without the kit (which is cute for teacher gifts or small giveaways), the set has some fun sentiments.  Check them out – you click on the image below to get a closeup in my online store:

  • Tisk, Tisk, Rule Breaker.  I broke two rules while making this card – and I’m not ashamed of my defiance at all!  ONE – I added two colors to the three-color-challenge.  Not only did I add a Crumb Cake basket (neutrals are totally allowed), I added small spots of Daffodil Delight in my flowers.  The three colors are inspiration – although I primarily featured the blue and green on the card, the pink plays an important role.  The yellow and tan are just along for the ride.  TWO – I inked up my photopolymer with StazOn (the bushel of flowers) because I wanted to color in the flowers with my water-based Stampin’ Write Markers.  From what I’ve read, StazOn cleaner isn’t great for photopolymers, so I inked, stamped and immediately wiped with a baby wipe.  That stamp still has some black on it, but it’s not transferring to other colors or stamped images.
  • Thick Whisper White.  If you haven’t tried the Thick Whisper White paper, you are missing out on one of life’s greatest inventions.  Even if you don’t want a firm white base for a card, the option to pop-up an element without backing it is great.  I would never send this popped-up flower punch on standard Whisper White – it would should show up bent and sad – but the Thick Whisper White gives me the assurance that my creation will arrive in good shape.

    • Thanks for your message. The site appears to be back up-and-running – not sure why it was down. Stampin’ Up! is set to receive a shipment of Tree Builder Punches next week for those who’ve already ordered it. The remaining will be filled a the end of July. The orders have far-exceeded their expectations, so demand is really high. If you want it, I would suggest you order it soon – it will ship based on a first-come, first-served basis. 🙂

  2. What a “beauty” of a card….way to think out of the box…but then again, you are a KING!!! Hugs my friend!

  3. Brian, Sprinkles of Life is my favorite new stamp set. I love how this basket floats on top of the sentiment. I also like how you modified the sketch and have the banner behind the circle but have the sentiment lined up perfectly with the banner as if it continues the line as shown in the sketch. Super job my friend.

  4. Wow Brian – you nailed this one. your creations are so inspirational. love your blog!!!

  5. You may sell me on this stamp set, yet!

  6. Well…the card is cute and the color combo is different from what is being used here in the middle of summer because of that Night Of Navy added . But most of all ….thank you for showing the All Boxed Up sayings ! I completely overlooked them and they don`t all pertain to boxes of goodies . Another addition to my list of items to order next !

  7. Lovely card Brian, the Midnight Navy and Cucumber Crush work really well together. For me dark blue and dark green are so preppy, in a good way. Great job
