This week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge features a great sketch from Patti MacLeith. Her great sketch has a big circle inside the top part of the sketch – and I wasn’t, at first, sure how to fill that space. Faced with this fun challenge, I flipped through all my stamps until I landed on You’ve Got This, a wonderful set that was first revealed with the new catalog this year. I’ve been sharing a lot of florals this week (not my typical go-to for a card), so I figured I could just keep up that theme. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper. Although the printed catalog says the Perfectly Artistic Paper is only offered through February 15, there’s still quite a bit of it to be earned (during Sale-a-Bration, you can select this paper as your gift with a $50 purchase). Yippee! There are TWELVE colors featured in this paper of marbled and watercolored prints. I used the watercolored piece of Soft Sky to create a beautiful texture in the background panel AND on the flower.
- Fun Coloring. Don’t you love the beautiful texture on this flower? It was stamped on the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper and snipped out. I added a little color to the stamen with my So Saffron Stampin’ Write Maker. That’s it! I stamped the image on again on Pear Pizzazz cardstock and snipped out the flower’s stem and leaves to pair with the snipped flower.
- Color Combination. I love how the softness of Soft Sky reacts to the darkness of Basic Black in this card. Together, they are an unstoppable duo – they don’t seem like they’d get along, but they really play well together. If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this:
Stamp Sets: You’ve Got This, Picture Perfect Papers: Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper (Soft Sky), Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Whisper White, Basic Black Inks: Archival Basic Black, Stampin’ Write Marker (So Saffron), VersaMark Accessories: White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the Pals Paper Arts site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

I love your take on the sketch. Your card is beautiful with the snipped flower. The color are great together. I like the idea of combining the striped paper with the soft sky flower. Have a great day.

Jaw dropping! I want this DP now! Great take on the sketch!
Thanks, Chris! So happy you like it.
Don’t you just love building around a phrase? I know you built around the sketch but the “you are made of Wonderful” phrase couldn’t find a more fitting card to be on. I just love it.
I DO love when the pieces all come together like that, Grace. You know me well. 🙂
Brian, 3 Things I love about this card
1. The colors (using the DSP, great idea)
2. The snipping
3. The layering
Thanks, Katrina! I appreciate your analysis.
Striking colors and perfectly snipped bloom = WONDERFUL!

Thanks, Pam. YOU are made of wonderful.
WOW! Simply breath taking! The pop of black against the gorgeous blue is stunning! Did you say we can still get this Perfectly Artistic paper? I did get several packs, but I wasn’t aware we could still get it after 2/15.
Thanks Bobbi! Yup! We can still get it. It’s “while supplies last” but I hear there’s a lot of it to be gathered. Yippee!
WOW!! I love this flower, the way it stands out with all the black details is really beautiful and that sentiment speaks volumes to anybody who receives this card.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much, Maria. You always say such nice things.
