You Are Wonderful, Mary Fish!

When I joined Stampin’ Up! over four years ago, I had no idea that I would make friends all over the world.  What a great joy!  It was Mary Fish who introduced me to the idea of sharing my projects online with a blog.  Her leadership is a great example to so many, and I’ve learned so much from her.  More than that, though, I am proud to call Mary a friend.  She’s a wonderful human being with an amazing sense of humor.  I love to push her buttons until she says, “Oh, stop it!  You’re being naughty.”

This past week, Mary became the latest Stampin’ Up! demonstrator to cross over the $1,000,000 sales mark.  What a huge milestone!  I’m so excited for her – she has worked really hard to get there and deserves all the applause she’s received.  Of course I had to make a card for Mary to let her know how happy I am for her.  Here’s the card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Wonderful Year.  Do you recognize the beautiful, scrolled “wonderful” in this card?  I’ll give you a couple of hints while you dig back into the back of your mind to figure out this puzzle.  (1) the stamp set is found in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Holiday Catalog and (2) the sentiment is isolated from other words on the stamp.  The word is pulled from this GORGEOUS sentiment from Wonderful Year – I could have pulled out “the most wonderful” or just “most wonderful,” but “wonderful” gave me exactly what I was looking for.  This lady is wonderful.

  • A Simple Accent.  Instinct pushed me to add more to this card, but I wanted to make a card that Mary, the Queen of clean and simple, could admire.  To the bold panel background and the simple sentiment, I added a single flower (cropped with the Tree Builder punch to coordinate with the base of the card) and a large Pearl Basic Jewel.  It tied in my colors and added an element of interest to Mary’s congratulatory card.  Such an easy addition!

  • Color Combination.  I’ve always adored the combination of Watermelon Wonder and Pool Party.  The colors seem to clash a bit but look gorgeous at the same time.  Watermelon Wonder is a perfectly bright and cheery color that’s perfect for this celebration.  If you like this combination of colors, too, please save this:Stampin' Up!
