I don’t have a lot of friends with small babies, so I don’t have many reasons to make baby cards. That said, I couldn’t wait to play with Moon Baby, a new stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Occasions Catalog. The images are adorable (always a plus for baby cards), and I immediately knew I wanted to play around with the string of stuffed animals. This week’s CASE(E) This Sketch challenge gave me the chance to give them life. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for Michele Ferguson’s Case This Sketch challenge that inspired my card:
I executed a little switch-a-roo with this sketch. I created a similar scalloped look but flipped the sentiment and element to the bottom so I could showcase these stuffed animals along the top of the curve.
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Moon Baby. I mean, really, how adorable are these little stuffed animals? All of the images in the new Moon Baby stamp set are sweet and adorable, but there’s something I love about this trio of bear, bunny and sheep. So cute. While the images are open for watercoloring or paper-piecing, I chose to just stamp them and let them be. No matter how you showcase them, these guys are sweet – and the would make a wonderful border for a card. When I first saw Michele’s sketch, I knew I’d be using the adorable trio.
- I Told You So. I spent much of December telling you that you should pick up the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies (they were on sale for the entire month). I hope you listened (you typically listen to me, and I appreciate that about you). Anyway, I sued the long, scalloped die from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits to crop this panel of whisper white. I simply lined up the right side of the die (as shown below) along the bottom of the white panel to crop a smooth, even curve. How easy is that!?
- Sweet (Sugarplum) Color Combination. I could have added color to the sweet animals, and I could have used a different background paper, but I adore the simplicity of this card as-is. Sweet Sugarplum looks great with Basic Gray, and the Whisper White keeps them balanced. If you like this combination of colors, too, please save this:

I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

I love the baby on the moon stamp! I also love today’s card from the Master Card Maker Himself – Brian King! LOL Today’s card is really one of the sweetest baby cards I’ve seen to date. Your talent continually amazes me Brian. If I”m ever over this flu thing I may get to actually look over the catty’s and decide what to order. Meanwhile, I am enjoying all that you are making.
GREAT color combo for a sweet card!
Total sweetness!
You are so clever using the Swirly Scribbles die to cut the curve. I just looked at another card last night for a swap last night and thought “How can I cut the curve on all those cards?” So I dismissed the idea of casing that card. Now you’ve given me the means to do it. However, I like your card so much I am trying to think what I have to stamp above the curve like yours without that new stamp set. Hmmmmm?
This is absolutely adorable! I love the colors. So sweet!
Just loving that parade of stuffed cuties! Yet ANOTHER well balanced, perfectly layered, great color selection card!
Awww, Brian what a cute card , love it my friend ,
