On my way out of town last week, I needed a quick and easy birthday card. I knew that Big on Birthdays, a new stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Occasions Catalog, would give me a big, bold sentiment I needed to make this card special. I reached into the 2016 Annual Catalog for a special paper to make my birthday salutation pop – Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Big on Birthdays. The Big on Birthdays photopolymer stamp set is filled with some great sentiments to celebrate with your friends and family. Here’s why you need this set – it’s a perfect variety of large sentiments that can be used for anyone (there are soft and pretty sentiments and big, bold sentiments). Any man or woman on your card-giving list will be happy with these well-wishes on their birthday.
Big on Birthdays, Stampin’ Up!
- Just a Little Coloring. I stamped the modern “Happy Birthday” with Archival Basic Black. Once it dried a bit, I used my Soft Sky Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the open lines on each letter. With a quick swipe of the pen, I was able to add a little color to the letters. I also added a little blue to the small hearts on the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper. Some of the paper’s hearts are already Melon Mambo – I only changed up the blue ones.
- Color Combination. I wouldn’t normally expect to see Soft Sky in a vibrant and bold card, but it really helps the Melon Mambo to pop on this card. If you like this combination, too, please save this:

I love the big, bold Happy Birthday and the fact that instead of centering it on this card you offset it and used the heart for balance. An absolutely knock out of a card from such a talented designer. Just love it.
