A Sweet Gift with the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit

You didn’t think you needed to get the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit – neither did I.  When I had a little gift to wrap for a friend, though, I was glad I could quickly reach for the tag, pop poms and beautiful ombre ribbon to decorate the box.  The kraft box stayed plain, but the three items from the embellishment kit and beautiful flower from the Succulent Framelit Dies turned the box into a gift.  Glad I had them!  This week’s Global Design Project challenge is to create a 3-D item or something “off the page” – not a normal card.  A beautifully decorated gift box was just what I needed.  Here’s my project:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my project:

GDP071Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit.  Like I said, I didn’t originally think I needed Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit or that I would use the kit.  I added it to an order with some rewards I earned and am glad I had it.  So handy for this challenge the kit comes with so many great items that can be used in so many different projects.  Rather than list them all here, I add the list to a picture – so much easier to see them all that way.  🙂  By the way, the tags are GREAT, but the Pool Party paper bows (which aren’t shown on today’s project) are ADORABLE!Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Sweet Succulent.  The flower is cropped with the Succulent Framelits Dies – it only takes one pass through the Big Shot with all the dies lined up on a piece of cardstock.  I curled the edges of the cutouts with my bone folder and layered them all together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  There are some amazing succulents created with these dies with tons of sponging and beautiful texture.  I kept this simple and allowed it to look like a flower.  I added a gold circle from the Metallic Enamel Shapes to the center of my Mint Macaron flower to tie that feature back to the gold foil on the tag.
  • Color Combination.  I adore the soft, sweet colors in the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit, and I used some of them to decorate my gift box.  I stamped the sentiment with Calypso Coral ink to pair with the 1/4″ ombre ribbon.  If you like these colors, too, please save this:Stampin' Up!
