Stampin’ Up!’s Lift Me Up for FMS279

I had a lot of fun with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge – Rita Wright gave us a wonderful arrangement of layers in a unique layout.  I’m not always sure what I’m making until I’m half way through a project, but this card poured out of me quickly.  I love the combination of Pool Party and Real Red – and this must-have bundle always makes me happy.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Lift Me Up Bundle.  We love bundles, right?  Sometimes, you buy a bundle because you really love the stamp set and might as well get the coordinating dies.  Sometimes, you buy a bundle because you really love the dies and might as well get the coordinating stamp set.  Lift Me Up is a must-have for both the stamp set and the coordinating dies.  The dies are a mixture of Framelits (that work perfectly with shapes in the stamp set) and Thinlits (that create new images you’ll definitely want to use in your projects).  If you don’t have this amazing bundle yet, here’s your chance!  🙂

  • Quick-and-Easy Banners.  Rita’s fun sketch includes four banners at the base of the central panel.  Instead of banners, I let the clouds from the Up & Away Thinlits do the work for me.  Please don’t judge my by how well-used my Big Shot Cutting Plates look.  Lift Me Up Bundle, Touches of Texture, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingHere’s how I created these soft, fun clouds:
    • I inked my Touches of Texture stamp set with Pool Party ink and stamped on a scrap of Thick Whisper White cardstock.
    • I positioned all three of the cloud Framelits from the Up & Away Thinlits Dies on the stamped paper.
    • I ran them through the Big Shot.
    • I cried at how beautiful they are.
  • Color Combination.  The combination of aqua and red is one of my all-time favorites.  Deep red, bright red, deep aqua or bright aqua.  They all look amazing – mostly because they shouldn’t look so amazing together.  If you like this combination as much as I do, you’ll want to save this as a reminder:Stampin Up!
