And, family vacations are just around the corner… how do you want to remember those special family moments?  We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

WOW MOM, YOU’RE INCREDIBLE!

All Moms are pretty cool, but MY Mom is absolutely incredible!  I haven’t shared this online before today, buy my Mom was in ICU last month with a kidney stone, followed my a kidney infection.  While that created worry in the family (I went straight to Charleston to be with her in the hospital), it all got very serious when that infection turned into sepsis, a life-threatening condition.  Mom’s can-do attitude – and some great care by the doctors and nurses – pulled her out of a really bad situation.

For today’s project, I made a simple card with a fun idea to say “you’re incredible” to Mom.  She’s a strong lady – she made it through raising me, right?  Here’s my card:

Everyday Hero, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Everyday Hero.  This simple card features a three-letter word from Everyday Hero, a retiring stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Occasions Catalog.  While this set [obviously] features my likeness (he has a pronounced jaw and beautifully coiffed hair), the female superhero looks nothing like Mom.  I decided the three-letter word would be fun to use, so I started playing with it.  The set is photopolymer (it’s a clear, see-through material), so it was easy to line up these words.  Such fun!

  • Too Big, Too Small, Just Right.  The “wow” panel that makes its way to “Mom” started with a 4″ x 5-1/4″ panel of Whisper White and lots and lots of “wows.”  I decided to crop down the panel with the sentiments with a Layering Squares Framelit, choosing to showcase the sentiment as opposed to it being the complete focus.  I shaved that down a little from the top and bottom, too, to achieve the balance I wanted.  I added two banners to balance everything out on this card.  The repetition of the layering, too, helped to bring focus to the fun sentiment-filled panel.
  • Bright Color Combination.  Watermelon Wonder is also retiring at the end of this catalog cycle (unless it sells out sooner).  I think it looks great with Tempting Turquoise – both are so bright and cheery.  If you like this combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up!
