Sneak Peek at Birthday Memories for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not just those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group!  I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you.  I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.

InKing Royalty Sneak Peek Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s May Blog Hop!  Today’s Blog Hop is filled with projects that offer you a sneak peek at new items in Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog.  We are so excited about the June 1 release of this new catalog  – it’s AMAZING – and we are excited to share our sneak peek creations with you today.  After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Birthday Memories

My sneak peek for this hop is a quick, fun card with several items from the Birthday Memories Suite.  If you’ve received your catalog, I’m sure that the items in this suite (on pages 68 and 69) are a stand-out.  The images and sentiments are a flashback to days past, a look back at children’s books and celebrations.  Here’s my quick and easy card:

While it was unintentional, this card follows this week’s sketch for CAS(E) This Sketch challenge (I shared my This Little Pig card yesterday for this challenge and may include this card, as well.  Here’s a look at the sketch for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Birthday Memories Suite.  This card features three items from the Birthday Memories Suite.  You’ll certainly want to spend some time admiring the products in this suite when you place your first order on June 1.  Here’s a quick look at all three:
    • Birthday Delivery Photopolymer Stamp Set (#143660).  The sentiment on this card is from the Birthday Delivery stamp set.  This set is filled with nostalgia – cute images that look like old children’s books or old Valentine’s Day cards.  These images pair perfectly with the paper and dies used on this card, too.  I mean, really.  How adorable are these images?Birthday Delivery, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
    • Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper (#144118).  This paper has it all!  Such super-cute images – and it’s oh-so-colorful!  Including Whisper White, there are thirteen (13!) amazing colors represented in this pack of papers.  While this picture from OnStage only shows slices of the pages, it gives a really good idea of how cute this paper is:Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper, Stamin' Up!
    • Birthday Friends Framelits Dies (#143658).  We love a bundle of stamps and Framelits, right?  What’s most wonderful about these Framelits Dies is that they work wonderfully with the stamp set AND coordinate with several images in the Designer Series Paper.  I didn’t color this fun piece of cake – it’s cropped right out of the Designer Series Paper.  Yay!
    • All Three Together – Birthday Delivery Bundle (#145294).  Wow!  These three items go so well together that Stampin’ Up! is offering them in a Trio Bundle.  You’ll want all three, so you might as well get them together with a 10% savings.  The bundle retails for $62 – and it’s worth every bit!
  • Take it to the Limit. The piece of Designer Series Paper in the center of this card is a perfect square – 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″. I carefully cropped this piece to extend from one edge of the card base to the other. I extended the square of Designer Series Paper with two thin strips of Real Red cardstock. When I glued down the thin strips, I let the pieces hang over the edge and carefully snipped them with my Paper Snips. TIP FOR LINING UP PAPER ALONG THE EDGE: I use the edge of my paper trimmer to perfectly line up paper along the edge of another piece. The “ledge” along the top and bottom of the trimmer gives you a perfect place for lining up two pieces. I created the following video some time ago to showcase this tip:

  • Silencing the Stripes.  As I mentioned above, I LOVE this striped piece of Designer Series Paper from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper.  It’s so vibrant and fun – and it will be one of those pages I use sparingly.  I don’t want to use it unless it’s used in a very special way.  While I love the stripes (did I mention that?), they were a bit busy (visually active) around the sentiment and cake image, so I tamed them a bit by adding additional strips of solid cardstock (a thin strip of Real Red and a thick strip of Crumb Cake).  This puts distance between the vibrant stripes and the cake and “Birthday Greetings” sentiment.  The large Crumb Cake strip also gives my cake a visual foundation on which to rest.
