Grown with Love for GDP091

This week’s Theme Challenge for the Global Design Project is “wheels” – anything with wheels will make us smile this week.  While there are some great bicycles, trucks and even a tiny shopping cart in the new catalog, I’ve been itching to ink up the wagon from Grown with Love so that’s just what I did!  Here’s my card with the wagon and bushel of flowers from the new bundle:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDPD091Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Grown with Love Bundle.  This new bundle pairs a pot with flowers, a watering can with flowers and a wagon with gourds.  I was certain that folks don’t grow flowers in a wagon, so I feared my project would be dumb, but … wheels … the wagon has wheels.  A quick Google search of “flowers in wagons” proved my hypothesis wrong.  Flowers in wagons are apparently a really big thing!  I was happy to jump on this band”wagon” for today’s GDP challenge.  These big, bold images work well together – and the coordinating Framelits cut out the large shapes and smaller images in the set.  Be sure to check them all out.  Here’s a look at this fun bundle:

  • Painting on the Stamps.  As I mentioned above, one die will cut out the outline of the flowers, while there are also dies to crop the small flowers in the bouquet.  As such, I stamped the entire bouquet (stems, flowers and sentiment) in Emerald Envy, knowing I could cover up the flowers with cropped flowers.  Yay!  Before I stamped down my ink-covered stamp, though, I wiped away some of the ink from the sentiment with a Blender Pen and the painted over it again with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.  So easy!  I did the same with the wheels of the wagon – I stamped the entire wagon in Smoky Slate and then colored over the wheels with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.  I stamped the flower arrangement again with Melon Mambo and cropped out the flowers.  I stamped the wagon again with Real Red and snipped out the wagon.  Fun!
  • Color Blocking.  I created a simple backdrop for my wagon and flowers, color blocking Melon Mambo, Old Olive and Dapper Denim.  The Old Olive (ground) and Dapper Denim (sky) are cropped from the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack – the ombre sky is a gorgeous backdrop for this card, don’t you think?  These colors (pink, green and blue) are uplifting and fun.  If you like these colors, too, please save this:Stampin' Up!
