Time for a Coffee Break

No time for a complex card?  Take a coffee break and make this sweet card.  While there are several layers here, the overall card is relatively simple.  What better way to say “thanks” than with a little cup of coffee on a super-sweet layout?  🙂  Here’s my card:

  • Coffee Coordination.  I love that so many products in Stampin’ Up!’s catalogs perfectly coordinate – colors, papers, suites.  All of the products in the Coffee Break Suite work wonderfully together – the stamp set, dies, papers, ribbons and accessories are all perfectly tied together.  While the Coffee Cafe stamp set and Coffee Cups Framelits Dies are sold as a bundle (they, of course, work together), some of the dies also work with the papers.  See this little cup in the bottom, right of this picture?  It’s cropped right out of the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper. Coffee Cups Framelits also pair with Coffee Break Designer Series Paper! Here’s a look at the bundle, which includes the stamp set and Framelits:

And here’s a look at this incredible paper – three pages of this paper are represented on my simple card:Coffee Break Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!

  • A Little Thanks.  What goes best with a little cup of coffee?  How about a little sentiment?  This fun “A Little Thanks” from the One Big Meaning stamp set has been a favorite of mine for quite some time.  Whether I’m making little tags or dressing up this little cup with a heart on it, this sentiment has worked well for me.  I stamped it in Early Espresso to match with the cup and small borders around the layers on this card.

  • Unexpected Trio.  While the 2015 Holiday Catalog featured some gorgeous dark green and soft blue combinations (I fell hard for the combination of Mossy Meadow and Soft Sky), I’m struck by how much I love this combo every time I see it.  This paper reunites these shades (in the form of Garden Green and Soft Sky), and I love them just as much here.  While my card is bordered with Early Espresso (that looks a bit black in the pictures), Crumb Cake steps in as the complement to the other two colors.  If you like this combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up! Don’t you just love this suite?  I love when I can quickly and easily pull together a card using the items in bundled suite.  Good times!

  6. You are right Brian – it was brilliant of the SU design team to have dies that fit perfectly with the designer paper. Your idea of backing the cut from the DSP with a layer of card stock makes so much sense. Just a beautiful card today. Love it and TFS.
