Climbing Orchid and Fancy Foil for GDP094

This week’s Global Design Project sketch gave me the chance to play with two new products I hadn’t yet played with – the Climbing Orchid Bundle and the Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The sweet-and-simple sketch gave me a great platform to create a sweet-and-simple card.  Here’s my card:

Climbing Orchid, Special Celebrations, Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP094

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:GDP094Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Climbing Orchid Bundle.  This is the first project I’ve made with the Climbing Orchid Bundle, a new pairing of a photopolymer stamp set and Framelits in Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog.  What fun!  This bundle can be used for sweet cards or gorgeous 3-D arrangements.  Here’s a look at this amazing, new bundle (you can click on the picture to see some great samples in my online store):

QUICK TIP:  To softly color the delicate flowers, I stamped them with Berry Burst on Whisper White cardstock.  I used a Blender Pen to lightly add color by pulling some of the ink from the center of the flower onto the inside of the petals.  Such an easy way to add soft texture:Use a Blender Pen to lightly pull color onto the petals of the orchid

  • Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It’s really difficult to showcase the awesomeness of this Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper in pictures.  You really need to hold this paper if your hands (after you order it from me, of course) to see how incredible it is.  Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this paper:  Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!Just look how shiny this paper is – a beautiful backdrop for this sweet flower:Climbing Orchid, Special Celebrations, Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP094
  • Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  While the Climbing Orchid stamp set features stamps that form the thin stem on which the orchid rests, I wasn’t able to effectively stamp on the Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper, so I had to get creative.  There’s a gorgeous branch in Seasonal Layers Thinlits that needed a little trimming to give me what I needed, so I pulled out my pruning shears and got to work.  Perfection!
