Oh So Eclectic with Julie DiMatteo

If you’ve hopped along with one (or all) of our InKing Royalty Team Blog Hops, then you already know what a talented and fun group of demonstrators in my group.  I love this group, and I am so glad to inspire and be inspired by these fun folks every day.  Today, I’m featuring a project by one of my team members, Julie DiMatteo, who shares new projects every day on her blog at ThePaperPixie.com.  Julie knows how to make super-gorgeous cards that aren’t super-complicated to make – and she loves 3-D projects, too.

Julie has created a super-sweet card with some hidden treasures you’ll want to read-up on.  AND there’s a coordinating box to go with it!  Please visit Julie’s blog (CLICK HERE) after you read my write-up on her card to see the coordinating box and her video for that project.  What fun!  Here’s Julie’s card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • So Eclectic.  At first glance, you might think that Julie is showcasing two pieces of Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper – one on the base of the card, and one on the sweet tag.  That’s what I thought!  Nope!  The top panel of this tag is created with Whisper White cardstock and stamps from the Oh So Eclectic stamp set.  What a pleasant surprise!  Here’s a look at the Oh So Eclectic stamp set:

  • Spattering & Daubering.  You may have noticed a little extra texture on the tag and Designer Series Paper around the tag.  Julie “flicked” her Berry Burst Stampin’ Write Marker to create a spattering of ink.  What a great way to add a little bit more color or texture to a project!  When I asked Julie how she created such great texture on the flower (it beautifully coordinates with the flowers in the Designer Series Paper), she shared that she inked up the flower with Soft Sky and added a little bit of Night of Navy to the center of the stamp with a Sponge Dauber before stamping on the paper.  Brilliant!Oh So Eclectic, Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, by Julie DiMatteo
  • Just Pick Three.  While the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper contains a beautiful variety of colors, Julie wisely chose to focus on three.  The borders and ribbon on her card feature Berry Burst, Night of Navy and Peekaboo Peach.  Love it!  If you like this combination of colors, please save this:Stampin' Up! This is adorable! Love that Julie grunged the paper just a bit! And WoW the tag is just perfect little match to the paper!!! So perfect!!!

  5. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous card Julie. I looked at that stamp set and thought “not for me” but now I need to rethink it. I always take the newest in colors when I get them, sit down and just stamp flowers all over white cardstock. Most of the time I love the outcome. I really do love this one Julie. Fantastic job.

  6. Nice job, beautiful colors!

  7. I adore how she layered the print on print. The stamped tag looks like the paper! Beautiful idea!

Now Brian, did you get a little singed from the fire dancers – somehow I know you were just begging to get up there and try it out!

  9. Such a soft and pretty card!
