Always & Forever for GDP099

The traditional gift to celebrate a five year wedding anniversary is wood.  A wooden bowl, a wooden clock, a new deck on the back of the house.  I suppose any of those could make a perfect wood-themed gift.  How about a beautiful card (paper is made from wood pulp – although paper has its own anniversary) that features wood?  I think that’s pretty awesome.  🙂  Here’s my card for this week’s “wedding/anniversary” themed challenge at The Global Design Project :

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • “Wood” You Like to Know?  Would you like to which stamp sets I used to showcase wood on this sweet card?  I’m more than happy to share with you (but you already know that).  🙂  This card features two sets that helped me stamp the images on this wood-themed card:
    • Forever & Always.  I loved this stamp set from the moment I saw it.  This cross-section of a log is gorgeous – with a heart built right in.  There are some gorgeous sentiments in the set, too, but I’ve saved those beauties for another day. Here’s a peek at this wonderful stamp set from the 2017 Annual Catalog:

    • Milestone Moments.  I love the fonts in Milestone Moments – a mix of beautiful script and a modern, typeset font.  While there’s not a “fifth” sentiment, I was able to pull the “fifth” from “twenty-fifth.”  I simply inked up the sentiment and then put tape over the “twenty-“.  Voila!
  • Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack.  This paper is amazing!  I love the gorgeous textures and colors of wood paneling in this set of 6″ x 6″ papers.  Such a variety!  All of the wooden pieces on this card are from the same piece of paper (it has a whitewashed panel on one side and a slightly darker [but still relatively light] piece on the other side).  I used one side of the paper from the frame around the focal panel and the stamped tree trunk.  I used the darker side for the focal panel of the card.  Together, they are pretty spectacular. • Sweet Color Combination.  While this card showcases Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Powder Pink and Pear Pizzazz, it’s the combination of neutrals and pink that really stand out to me.  If you like this combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up! 8. You are just too clever Brian. How do you ever remember which sets have which sayings. You seem to be able to go right to what you are looking for to make your creations just perfectly. I on the other hand have to sew my name into my clothes to remember it! LOL All kidding aside I do admire your ability to pull different stamps from different sets and make them all appear to have been together to start with. You are so amazing!

  9. Love the pink heart and brilliant choice of designer series paper for a touch of shabby chic!
