We stampers love our layered city dies – they just keep getting better and better. I’ve been using the Bethlehem Edgelits Dies a lot this year (you can see those projects here and here) a lot this year, but I’ve yet to create with the Hometown Greetings Edgelits Dies. Today’s the day! Any my card is not a Christmas card. Here’s my sweet-and-simple wedding card:
My card is inspired by two online challenges – the colors are from this week’s Just Add Ink challenge, and the layout is inspired by Allison Okamitsu’s CASE the Designer challenge at the Global Design Project. Here are the banners for these challenges:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Hearts Come Home Bundle. There are so many great bundles in Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Holiday Catalog! The Hearts Come Home is one of the standouts. The sentiments in this set are DIVINE for the Holidays, but this isn’t a Christmas card, so I didn’t use the stamps – but you should still get them. In the middle of all the homes and buildings in these layered dies, there’s a beautiful church – perfect for Christmas OR for wedding congratulations. Here’s a look at the components of this super-fun bundle:

- Layering the Edgelits Die. While the dies in this bundle are meant to layer over top of one another, I used a small part of one die and cropped it three times for one, single look. I cropped the church and little tree once with Thick Whisper White, once with Lemon Lime Twist and once with Crumb Cake. I snipped off the little pieces from the Lemon Lime Twist and Crumb Cake pieces and layered them over the Thick Whisper White cutouts. I glued those down and then cropped the image with an oval die from the Layering Ovals. I simply glued that over a Pool Party cutout of the same oval for a perfect fit.
- A Base of Best Wishes. I love the repetition of the sentiment along Allison’s GDP card. Her card inspired to me to create a panel of the repeated “Best Wishes” sentiment from Blooms & Wishes (what a gorgeous scripted sentiment!). I created a lower panel on this card with these repeated sentiments. Here’s a closer look:
