More Gourd Goodness & Candy Hearts Swaps

On Tuesday I shared a super-layered, Fall-themed card with Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper and a sweet Gourd Goodness sentiment.  I shared a bit about that card on Tuesday (if you missed it, you can see it here), and I’m sharing a bit more about the card today.  The card was created for a Candy Hearts team meeting swap – Candy Ford, the awesome leader of the Candy Hearts team, invited me to her team meeting last weekend.  I’m also sharing the swaps I received from her team members.  What fun!

Infinity Shot

When I make multiples of a card (I made 10), I like to honor that work by taking an “infinity shot” of the projects lined up by one another.  Let’s start with that.  🙂

Gourd Goodness, Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingA Re-do with Stampin’ Dimensionals

When I was about half-way through making these swap cards, I realized I wasn’t happy with the placement of the Stitched Shapes oval.  I was placing it in the lower, right corner of the front panel – but I really wanted it centered.  Because the oval was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, it was a cinch to change.  I simply cut the Stampin’ Dimensionals in half (sideways) with my Paper Snips and then rolled off the leftover adhesive.  So easy!

Trick for Removing Stampin' Dimensionals, Brian King, Stampin' Up!

Another fun fact about how I used Stampin’ Dimensionals on this project – when I started my swaps, I began with a new sheet of Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Here’s what I was left with when the last panel was secured:

Candy Hearts Swaps

In exchange for these swaps, I received some great projects from members of the Candy Hearts.  Here’s a look at their projects and smiling faces:

Caitlin brought this sweet card that was designed and made by her mother (also a Candy Heart) who couldn’t attend the meeting:

Debbie was all smiles with her sweet, Fall-themed swap card:

If you know Candy, then you know (1) how talented she is and (2) that she’s always smiling.  This picture shares her great card but doesn’t showcase her customary smile (she was busy running a meeting).

Candy’s sister, Judy, made a gorgeous card with lots of texture and great colors.  She did her best Vanna White impression as she shared her lovely card:

And then there’s this handsome fella:

  1. Looks like great cards and a great time. I did a “Vanna White” impression the other day too…it’s funny how that woman got to be so famous!!!

  2. Your card is very fallish (is that a word?) and pretty. Love the swap cards, Brian. There is a lot of talent in the Candy Hearts group. Thanks for sharing. Good job on using all of one pack of dimensionals right down to the last little bit. Too funny!

    • The Dimensionals bit was just too fun to not share. 🙂 I’m generous with Dimensionals, but I suppose I would have more if I hadn’t encountered my re-do. 🙂 Thanks, HJ!

  3. Love your infinity card shot! Gorgeous. The lovely talent and faces of the Candy Hearts says so much – we LOVE card making!

  4. Wow my friend, all so lovely , lol…. yep your smile got me AGAIN , thank you again for a lovely and happy smile ♥️
    Tfs
    Hugs Frenchie ♥️

  5. I love your card, and the use of dimensionals! It looks like it was a great meeting with beautiful cards! Thank you so much for sharing!

  6. Thanks for coming to the meeting, swapping with us, taking pictures, and highlighting us on your blog today. I have a wonderful team of talented stampers and I love to show them off. (I thought you were just snapping a photo of my card. If I had known I would be in the picture I would have smiled!)❤️

    • So glad I could be there, Candy! It was a fun day – even if I couldn’t get you to smile. 🙂 I knew you wouldn’t be happy with the picture – but you’re still adorable. Thanks for sharing your group with me. <3

  7. Hello Brian! Great Card! Looks like you ALL had a good time! The other Cards were beautiful too!
I have a question…in your ribbon share you mention ‘Cherry Cobbler’ and ‘Garden Green’ 3/8″ Classic Weave Ribbons…I can’t seem to find these ribbons in the Annual or Holiday Catalogs…are they hiding?
    Please Advise! Thanks so much!

    • Doh! Thank you so much for the heads-up on this, Cheryl! I quickly pulled this idea together during the tailend of my lunch hour on Thursday and didn’t quite proofread the list I created. Yikes. The 3/8″ Classic Weave ribbon includes Crumb Cake (not Cherry Cobbler) and Whisper White, and the 3/8″ Satin Stitched Ribbon comes in Garden Green. All has been updated. Thanks for pointing it out. <3

  8. Brian your infinity shots are always fun to see, they capture the reward of standing back and viewing fun consistent work. ?

Wow . . . The Candy hearts looks like a talented group, great cards! Kudos to Candy Ford!

    • Thanks, Katrina. I can’t understand making a bunch of cards and then not have photos to remember it by. 🙂 Glad you like it. The Candy Hearts are super-fun!

  9. Lovely cards Brian, even lovelier smiling faces.
Lots of inspiration, thank you all for sharing.
    XO
    Maria.

  10. What beautiful cards, I love all of them. Brian thanks for the tip. I usually just cuss a blue streak and start over.
