I’m a crazy about Stampin’ Up!’s color families. I love that we can match inks with papers with accessories for a variety of coordinated colors. I love when new colors are introduced and love to find ways to combine the colors in visually appealing ways. Sometimes colors look great in bold blocks, and sometimes we only need a small touch of a color to find the right balance. Today’s card is a simple card that plays with color in a couple of fun ways. Here’s my card:
- In Colors. Stampin’ Up! keeps our color families fresh by introducing 5 new In Colors each year that work on a 2-year rotation – that means they stick around for (at least) two years. My card today features two In Colors: Flirty Flamingo (a 2016-2018 In Color) and Lemon Lime Twist (a 2017-2019 In Color). If you are new to Stampin’ Up!, you might not realize that some of the colors in our color collection were once In Colors (like Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Island Indigo and Blushing Bride). How did that happen? Every once in a while Stampin’ Up refreshes the entire color collection, retiring colors that are not on-trend or not selling well and adding new colors. The new colors that are added can be brand, spankin’ new or pulled from retired In Colors. What a relief! While we hate to see some of the In Colors retire, there’s some reassurance we might – one day in the future – see them again as a part of the color collection. - Two New. While this card is all about the colors, there are two new products showcased here that are worth mentioning – one if from Sale-a-Bration, and one is from the Occasions Catalog. The sentiment – sure to be one I use a lot – is from Epic Celebrations, one of the items you can select for free with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration. Here’s a look at this Epic Celebrations stamp set:
The panel of paper that runs through the center of this card is from Petal Passion Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this beautiful (and playful) pack of papers:

- Summery Fun. So, how did the black-and-white paper coordinate so well with this card? It’s simple! I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to randomly color some of the flowers on the paper. How fun! I love this combination of bright and soft colors. If you like Lemon Lime Twist with Soft Sky and Flirty Flamingo, please save this for inspiration:

What do you think of today’s card? Don’t these colors lend themselves well to a cheery and fun “you’re awesome” card?
Thanks for stopping by today!

Darling idea to dash up those flowers with ink and color!
Thanks so much, Mary! I always love to color my DSP – this was calling to be colored. <3
Another great color combo!
Thanks, Dawn! I had a lot of fun with these colors. <3
Dang, I always forget about coloring that DSP. Cute card!
I’m going to keep sharing it until you remember. 🙂
I love this – most of the samples I’ve seen with this set are not even remotely florally cute like this – very out of the box! #paperking
🙂 Thanks so much, Lydia! The soft and bright colors help to offset the sketchiness of the design. Glad you like it! <3
Thank you for the idea for the sentiment. I case’d it last night working on a swap card and it fits really well. Thanks!
Yay! I’m so glad. This is a wonderful sentiment! <3
