I know that Winter weather is covering lots of this country right now, but it (oddly) feels like Spring here in Atlanta. With temperatures in the high 70’s, we don’t see another cold snap in the forecast. We’ll certainly see one before we move into Spring, which makes me sad for all of the budding flowers and trees. The feelings of Spring inspired me to make a sweet, flower-filled card for this week’s Fusion challenge. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Inspiration. The Fusion Challenge gives us TWO challenges – a sketch and an inspiration photo. We are challenged to create with the sketch OR the picture OR to find inspiration from both. I chose the latter. My card is created with the sketch – a large banner with two, overlapping shapes. What fun! I was also inspired by the coral-colored flowers in the Springtime wreath in the inspiration photo.
I used Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends to color the petals of these flowers from Falling Flowers. Very “Spring,” don’t you think?
- Falling Flowers. The Falling Flowers stamp set and coordinating May Flowers Framelits dies have been around for a while, but they always feel brand new and fresh when I ink them up and use them. I really love this combination and think it should be a part of everyone’s Springtime repertoire. Here’s a look at the Falling Flowers stamp set:
The set is bold and fun and perfect for watercoloring or coloring with Stampin’ Blends. Rather than “blending” the petals and leaves with a mix of the light and dark blends (which is really lovely), I alternated the light and dark shades on the petals and leaves. I am really happy with how these flowers turned out.
- Color Combination. I started with Calypso Coral – I knew my flowers would be perfect in a bright, bold color. The leaves would (obviously) be green – no creative energy pushing that solution! I decided to layer a green background to allow the Calypso Coral flowers and Daffodil Delight banner to pop. If you like this combination of Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Old Olive, please save this:
Stamp Sets: Falling Flowers, Dare to Dream Papers: Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper, Old Olive, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Thick Whisper White Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin’ Blends (Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive) Accessories: May Flowers Framelits Dies, Celebrate You Thinlits Dies, Tailored Tag punch (used to crop banner tip), Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Fusion Challenge site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Love this gorgeous and colorful card, those flowers truly make me yearn for Spring to arrive, I’m tired of gray days (like today, 🙁 ) I want to see color back in my flower beds!!!
Love your layering and how you guide our eyes with it to your main images, just lovely.
Thank you so much for sharing, my dear.

Maria.
PS. I so wish I could join you guys, 😉
Thank you so much, Maria! I’m sure we’ll be “over” the heat by the start of Summer. I appreciate your sweet comments! Thanks! <3
I love the bright pop of coral against the yellow and green! Pretty card!
Thanks so much, Linda! I’m so glad I had these colors in the Stampin’ Blends. I’m a big fan of these shades together, too. <3
Glad it’s spring somewhere! Snow is in the forecast for this afternoon here in Maine. 🙂 All of these cards are so lovely Brian, I especially like the one on the very bottom. Thanks for the inspiration and have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks so much, Dawn! While I’m not wishing for snow, I’d sure love to have a couple more weeks of cold. Not ready for Summer yet. I appreciate your comments. <3
I adore this beautiful card! You are just simply amazing! #bestbkcardever
Thanks so much, Jennifer! Let me count those hashtags… <3
I always admire your coloring, Brian. You make it look so easy. I’m glad you included the “Miss You” card. I love that DSP and need to use mine. Thanks for the inspiration with all these beauties today. We have a rainy day, but on the bright side, it is not ice. Enjoy your day.
Rain and snow are always OK – as long as the ice stays away. Thanks for your sweet comments, HJ! <3
I like the color combo…the flowers really pop!
Thanks so much, Windy! <3
Nothing like a pop of black to tie everything together. Nice!
Daffodils here are likely to get frozen out soon. I’ll have to be happy stamping my flowers for a while longer.
Thanks so much, Dianne! I had fun with this card – and the black pulled it all together for me. <3
