On cold, rainy days, there’s no better pick-me-up than a bright, vibrant card. Since Stampin’ Up! introduced the Rainbow Builder Framelits Dies (that coordinate with the Sunshine and Rainbows stamp set), I’ve wanted to make a complete circle. Today’s the day! Here’s my 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ card:
- Sunshine & Rainbows. Rainbows are awe-inspiring. The spectrum of colors that occurs when light is refracted through rain drops will always stop you in your tracks. I love the sweet images, fun sentiments and versatile dies in Stampin’ Up!’s Sunshine & Rainbows bundle – clouds, rainbows and lightning bolts are all there. Those cloud dies are gorgeous! Here are the stamps and dies in this Rainbows & Sunshine bundle:
Here’s a great video Stampin’ Up! created to walk you through the great elements of this bundle:
- Lining Them Up. As you can see from the video, these arches line up perfectly. With a little patience and a bit of precision, they look amazing. Because I knew I’d be covering the center-points where my two rainbows meet, I was a little less careful – why waste time making the centers perfect when I knew they’d be covered up? Here’s how sloppy this looked before I covered the places where the arches meet:
- Colors of the Rainbow. The Rainbow Builder Framelits Dies create 7 arches that layer together perfectly – allowing us to create with whatever colors we want. The seven-color ROYGBIV (red orange yellow green blue indigo violet) scheme brilliantly fits the seven-arch dies. There are SO MANY great Stampin’ Up! colors we could use to create a gorgeous rainbow. Here are the colors I used:
- Real Red
- Tangerine Tango
- Daffodil Delight
- Emerald Envy
- Marina Mist
- Fresh Fig
- Wisteria Wonder
Stamp Sets: Vertical Greetings Papers: Wisteria Wonder, Basic Black, Thick Whisper White, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Emerald Envy, Marina Mist, Fresh Fig, Wisteria Wonder Inks: Archival Basic Black Accessories: Rainbow Builder Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

This card really hit the target! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist!.) Love all the bright colors.
Thanks, Dianne! I saw the target after I was done. 🙂 Glad you like it.
You hit the bullseye (ditto above) with this clever use of color and design!
Tee hee. Thanks so much, Mary! <3
I am impressed with the line up of die cuts…I have worked with them for my design team projects and they are really hard to line up. Awesome, happy card!
I had lots of fun with them, Windy, but didn’t have to worry about lining them up perfectly. Such a great set of dies. <3
This is so bold and vibrant! I love how you used the diecuts! Fun card!
Thanks so much, Linda! Had fun with this one. <3
Great card today Brian! Love the bright fresh colors and clean, crisp design. Well done!
Thanks so much, Sharon! The colors of the rainbow can be bright or soft – or a mix of both. I’m so glad you like this card. <3
Clever use of the dies Brian and it’s always fun to use the vertical greetings!
Thanks so much, Dawn! The dies are fun – I’m always Happy when Vertical Greetings comes to the rescue. <3
Love this unique design using the rainbow dies, Brian. I loved it when I saw SU came out with individual dies for each color. I have a rainbow die that is altogether, so in order to cut one color, I have to cut an entire rainbow for each color. So I end up with 7 reds, 7 oranges, etc. You get the idea. It wastes so much paper, because in my mind the rainbow colors only go one way. I’ll have to check to see if others think the same way. Of course, before I bought this die, I never thought about how it would actually work. Hope you’re enjoying your day. Ours is cold but sunny!
Thanks so much for your comments, HJ! It’s a great set of dies – especially compared to the dies you describe. Very easy to use, too!
I believe only you, Brian, would put together two Roy G Bivs to make a perfect target. Love it! Great job, kiddo.
Thanks so much, Georgie! I had fun with it. <3
Such a unique card. It makes me almost feel Spring.
The bright colors are intoxicating. Thanks, Robbye! <3
Love your card!!!
Thanks so much, Karen! So glad you like it. <3
THIS IS THE BOMB!! Love. It’s nearly as awesome as you….ok, not quite, but close.
Why are you so good to me? I’m so glad you like it, Louise! It was definitely fun to put together. <3
