For this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge, I’m making a sweet-and-simple card that features my favorite retiring Designer Series Paper, Coffee Break Designer Series Paper. Oh, how I love the colors and patterns in this fun stack of papers! In this post, I’m also sharing a list of the Designer Series Papers that are soon-to-retire (so you can stock up before they are gone). Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Coffee Break Designer Series Paper. I have probably used this Designer Series Paper more than any other. I love the combinations of blue, green and brown, and I adore the retro-style patterns in this pack of papers. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in Coffee Break Designer Series Paper:
Fun, right? I don’t know how much of this paper is currently in the warehouse, but once it’s sold out, it’s gone forever. The cardstock pack that coordinates with this paper has already sold out. There are three patterns showcased on this card – (1) the Soft Sky background and circle, (2) the Early Espresso panel and (3) the coffee pot and mug. Here’s a closer look:
- Jar of Love. You might not initially think of combining coffee with rustic jars, but this sentiment (from the Jar of Love stamp set) is a perfect match, don’t you think? There are lots of people in this world who rely on that cup of coffee (or second or third cup of coffee) to get going in the morning. This makes for a fun way to send an all-occasion card, don’t you think? The Jar of Love stamp set is continuing into Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog, but if you don’t have it, now is as good a time as any to pick it up. 🙂 Here’s a look at the Jar of Love stamp set:
I cropped the sentiment with a sweet little die from the Bottles & Bubbles Framelits, part of the Bubble Over Bundle. While the stamp set and dies carry forward to the 2018 Annual Catalog, the bundled pricing ends on May 31. Here’s a look at this fun bundle:
- Color Combination. There aren’t a lot of colors on this card, but the ones I pulled from these papers are GREAT together. If you love this combination of Soft Sky, Garden Green and Early Espresso, please save this:
And don’t forget – Soft Sky is retiring on May 31 – or when products sell out (as they are being sold on a while-supplies-last basis). To read more about ALL of the colors that are retiring, CLICK HERE.

Placing an Order Today? I hope you’ll place an order today and grab up some of these awesome papers before they retire! While I’d love for you to place an order more than $150 so you can earn Host Rewards (including the price-reduced Hostess Stamp Sets), that amount might not be in the cards for you. The Host Code is always available in the right column of my blog (just under my super-handsome picture). <3 Thanks for stopping by today!

Great card. I have exactly one sheet of that Designer Paper left, the same one you used. May have to CASE your card!
It’s such a great pack of papers, Dianne! Thanks for your sweet comments – now, go chop that paper and make something pretty. <3
I love, love, love the Coffee Break DSP and all it goes with! Thanks, Brian, for giving it one more “shout out” before it goes away.
🙂 So happy to give it one last run, Suzie! I’m so glad you like it. This one has had a special place in my heart since it was first introduced. <3
A fun card Brian, and as always, I’m in awe of how you matte your creations!
Thanks, Dawn! I cut up several pieces of this paper before finding this combination of layers. <3
I agree with other comments about this being a fun card with the old-fashioned coffee pot. Your happy personality always comes through to brighten everyone’s day. I’m one of the unusual (could say “odd”) people who doesn’t drink coffee, but I do like that SU puts a user-friendly print on the opposite side of the distinct patterned paper. Have a wonderful day, Brian.
I’m so happy to share, HJ! <3 I didn't drink coffee until my mid-30's. There's a peaceful ritual about that first cup of coffee. I, too, love that there are two sides to each patterned paper - these are all gorgeous! <3
Such a fun card and color trio.
Thanks so much, Amy! <3
Fun card! I have hoarded so much DSP and trying to use up before they retire!
I keep getting more of this paper and keep using all of it. Such a great stack! <3 Thanks, Windy!
I’m enjoying my morning cup of coffee while I look at your darling project! Cheers!
🙂 Thanks, Mary! <3
Love this card and all the others you have made with these awesome papers. Sad to see it go!
Thanks so much, Nina! That’s the good thing about pictures – the memories can stay with us forever. 🙂 Always lovely to hear from you. <3
Super cute card Brian. I felt that way about Coca Cola for a looong time. I’m really happy Bottles & Bubbles is carrying over, just wish the dsp was too. Great job Brian.
Thanks so much, Robbye! The Bottles & Bubbles bundle is really super-cute. Glad to see it carry over, too. <3
Love this Brian! One of my customers wants to make some cards for her friends who have Coffee Time and I think she would like this. She hates when people don’t give her steps on how to make the card or measurements. So, I can make this card up and see if she likes it. If so, I will make her kit up to make one or 4 of them. I bet she will order the stamps and dies for that set. She has looked at it but was intimidated by ideas on Pinterest. She also likes the Mason Jar set but was intimidated by it and not sure how to use different pieces on different cards. So, you have saved the day for me once again. I think the coffee paper is sold out but I have at least one sheet of each from the pack that we can use. Thanks!!!
Chris, That sounds awesome! I’m happy to inspire! I hope it works out for you. As of right now, the Coffee Break cardstock pack has retired, but the DSP is still orderable. Yay! 🙂 Remember – the bundle for this set and dies retires May 31. <3
Ok….I have to admit I didn’t buy this DSP, not because I don’t love it, but because I have SOOOOO much DSP I don’t know what to do with it all! Your card is awesome, as always, and I knew it was yours as soon as I saw it. Love your style Brian!
Thanks so much, Narelle! I love that you know my style – I feel the same about yours. <3
Super clever using that sentiment on your coffee card! My heart is broken this DSP is being discontinued, love it so much!
Thanks, Sheryl! I was pretty happy when I found this sentiment and knew it would be perfect. Glad you like it! <3
