As I briefly mentioned in yesterday’s post, Louise Sharp hosted a three-day stamping event in Kiama, Australia this past weekend. One of the “surprises” of the event – guests were treated to a trio of projects I designed and a fun video I created to share these projects with them. What an honor to share with my Aussie friends. Today I’m sharing one of the three projects I created for the event. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Broadway Birthday. The Broadway Birthday Bundle is the foundation of all three of the projects I made for Louise’s event. I think it’s such a fun bundle (I call it a fundle) that you can’t overlook it. Here’s a closer look at the images and sentiments in the Broadway Birthday Bundle: Not only does the set and coordinating dies work perfectly for birthdays, but it’s also great for other celebrations. While the card I share today is, in fact, appropriate for a birthday, there are lots of other occasions when someone might be prompted to wish. That said, I can’t wait to share the other two projects, which are (decidedly) birthday-themed.
- A Wink of Stella Star. “Wish” comes with a dot for the “i,” but I had a different idea to play with. Instead of popping out the tiny dot from the coordinating Broadway Lights Framelits Dies, I thought it would be fun to top the “i” with a star. I painted Clear Wink of Stella onto a scrap of Blueberry Bushel and punched a star with the Twinkle Builder punch (I used the largest star on the punch). Here’s a look at this punch: Just to confirm: Wink of Stella is a Brian-approved method of adding a glittery touch to a project. If you are fearful of glitter, this product will meet all of your needs.
- Beautiful Blues. Because of the mix of blues, you might instinctively think this card has a masculine appeal. The sky and water are blue – and so is Blue Willow China – but I don’t think any of these are particularly masculine. This color scheme is perfect, in my opinion, for either a woman or a man. The softness of Pool Party mixes beautifully with the boldness of Blueberry Bushel. If you like this color combination as much as I do, please save this: After I created the projects for Louise (but before Louise’s event) I shared this project with my local stamp club. Because the club met just as I returned from Alaska (and Mom stayed at my house while I was out of town), she was able to accompany me to the club meeting. If you need further proof that blues are appropriate for a woman, look a these four pictures of my club members (and Mom) sporting blue – what a fun coincidence:
Bundles: Broadway Birthday Stamp Sets: Broadway Birthday, Bokeh Dots Papers: Blueberry Bushel, Pool Party, Whisper White, Thick Whisper White Inks: Pool Party, Blueberry Bushel Accessories: Twinkle Builder Punch, Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Broadway Lights Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I have more tips about this project to share – and will be back this weekend to share more about this fun project and to share the other projects I created for Louise’s event.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

Such a fun card Brian and what a great mom you have. The Bokeh set is on my wish list!
It’s a great set, Dawn! I’ll be sharing more with it this weekend. <3 Thanks!
Curious about the Pool Party piece. Is that being held as incentive for us to read more this weekend or did I miss something! Great card – may case that one!
Thanks for your comments, Dianne! I’m not sure what you mean when you ask about the Pool Party piece. There’s a Pool Party panel and a piece that’s stamped with the Bokeh Dots set. There WILL be more about that stamped piece this weekend. <3
What a great card Brian! AND, a fabulous photo of your beautiful Mom! I love big word dies and your card today really shows it off . Those ladies are so lucky to live close enough to you to attend your stamp club gatherings. They must be a ton of fun, especially with you as host.
We have lots of fun, Grace, but it is I who is fortunate to live near them. If it weren’t for this group, I’d only stamp with other people a couple times a year. <3 Thanks!
Fun card..like the background..tell Mom I said hi!
Thanks, Windy! I’ll tell her. <3
Great pix of friends stamping. Awesome “wish” card, especially the star placement!
Thanks so much, Mary! It was a quick-and-easy-with-a-little-bit-of-wow – my favorite kind of card to make. 🙂
Love it!
🙂 Thanks!
So lucky to be in your “local club”! Thanks for always making us laugh and sharing your amazing cards!
I’m the lucky one, Selina! <3 I love working with y'all and always love to share with you. <3
Stop the presses!!! There’s actually a Brian King approved way to add glitter? I may have to take to my fainting couch (and I never wear things that constrict my breathing). This card is another example of your creativity and I love it. The colors you chose works so beautifully together. Awesome job
Thanks so much, Robbye! I’m so glad you like it. The card needed a little sparkle, and I certainly wasn’t running glimmer paper through my punch. 🙂 <3
