Sometimes you need a card that simply says “Hello!” – no birthday, no congrats, no holiday – just a simple check-in with someone you love. For this week’s Global Design Project color challenge, I made such a card. Soft Suede, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight can be so fun together! My card is mostly brown with pops of pink a one big pop of yellow with a peek-a-boo friend from the Animal Outing stamp set. Here’s my card:
And here are the colors – Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Soft Suede – for the challenge that inspired my card (this challenge goes live on the GDP site at 7am EST):
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Animals, Animals, Animals. The Animal Outing Bundle and coordinating Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper are a menagerie of fun! What a cute collection of friendly animals from all over the world! Our long-necked friend (stamped with the stamp set and cropped with the dies) is supported by this panel of giraffe patterns from the Animal Expeditions Designer Series Paper. What fun! Here’s a look at the Animal Outing Bundle (includes the Animal Outing stamp set and coordinating Animal Friends Thinlits Dies:
And here’s a look at the brilliant patterns and colors in Animal Expedition:
- Framing Our Friend. It wouldn’t normally be a positive thing to claim you are framing you friend – sounds like something out of an old spy or gangster movie. π Here’s a closer look at the focal point of this card:
Our friendly giraffe is framed with a die from the Foliage Framelits Dies that coordinates with the Floral Frames stamp set (sold in a bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog). He’s peeking through a 2″ circle and framed with a Flirty Flamingo circle from the Layering Circles Framelits Dies. I intentionally framed the panel of Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper to mimic the pink border around the giraffe.
- “Oh, hello…”. I might say, “Hello friend” to someone I know, but the “Oh” that precedes the sentiment in this Oh So Eclectic stamp set leaves me a little puzzled, but…I was excited to have it for this card. You’re going to think I’m totally insane when I explain why. This super-sweet giraffe has his eyes closed and his mouth open – which makes me think he’s either British (when I use my British accent, my eyes instinctively close a little, so “oh, hello” sounds right coming from an ole’ chap) or sarcastic (can’t you almost hear it?). By the way, I’m TERRIBLE at accents and AMAZING at sarcasm. Either way, the sentiment works with this guy. He’s perfectly sweet.

As you know…I love, love , love the Animal Expedition Paper. Such a fun card.
π Thanks so much, Dianne! The paper is so fun and easy to work with. Appreciate your kind words. <3
Adorable card…the flamingo and suede look great together!
Thanks so much, Windy! I chose the colors for this challenge, so I appreciate your compliments on many levels. <3
Darling dude and perfect colors. The animal print background is divine!
Thanks so much, Mary! It’s simple and fun – I’m glad you like it. <3
So cute! I love that you occasionally make a card to send just for the heck of it. I have done that on occasion and always get a giddy phone call from the recipient telling me that I made their day. Having you make this absolutely fabulous little fun card is a reminder to me that I haven’t done that for a while. I just love this card Brian and it’s one way to say I love you or I miss you to a friend. Thanks for sharing such a great card!
Thanks so much, my friend. I’m glad you like it – random kindness cards are the best. I’m in love with this sweet giraffe. <3
Fun card today! Great colors to work with in the challenge.
Thanks, Sharon! I appreciate it on several levels (I also picked the colors for this challenge). π Glad you like them, and glad you like my card.
Awwww, my friend, such a sweet and lovely card , my fav, giraffe ?

Tfs my friend, canβt wait to see u β₯οΈ
Hugs Frenchie love the brown leaves β₯οΈ
I’m SO excited to see you in Orlando, Frenchie! It’s been too long. Thanks for your sweet comments. <3
Cheerio ol’ chap! Such fun! My husband does sarcasm AND accents – totally drives me crazy sometimes. Giraffe’s are just plain fun if you ask me with that long neck and legs. Their tongue is a bit gross – one grabbed my hat at a zoo once and left enough slobber on it and a hole in it to rival my basset hound’s goo! I can totally see me sending a card like this to a friend just like Grace commented on!
π I’m so glad you read that explanation, Chris! Don’t get me wrong – I do accents. I am just terrible at them. π <3
Well hello sweet giraffe! You are the star of an adorable card!
Isn’t he?! Thanks, Linda!
Cute card, Brian. Love the giraffe! Have a super day!
Thanks so much, Hilda! <3
Wonderful card design and colors. I love it! Well done, Brian
Thanks so much, my friend! I’m so glad you like it. <3
Love that dsp. I have been holding on to it β¦.kinda like HOARDING !!
I think this giraffe is full of himself ! Kinda like cats are !!
They say they hum at night …maybe that is what he is doing β¦.??
Cute cute card !! perfect colors !
I love your interpretation of his facial expression, Sonny! BUT if he’s full of himself, and he’s me, then… Nope. I can’t go with that explanation. π Thanks!
Amazing card for an amazing guy with an amazing sarcastic wit. Love the leaves around the focal point. They make this card just that little bit more adorable!
π Thanks, Sue! I’m so glad when people recognize good wit. Glad you like the card. Can’t wait to hang out with you in Orlando! <3
Really cute!
Thanks, Liz! <3
Oh my word, so cute! So you know how I love my dies. Gah! I love the foliage on this card!!!
Thanks so much, Sheryl! I love these leaves, too – this set wasn’t on my first wish list, but it should have been. <3
